Yes, I remember that. The press was way over the top on that. Of course, he said other things that weren't terribly brilliant. Overall, I think he's a decent guy, but even today he has a knack for saying things that make you want to cringe. I saw him on Fox's Huckabee show recently, and Mike H. asked him if he missed being VP. Quayle did not give a very mature response. It was something along the lines of "yeah, you do miss sitting with the President in the White House, running the world". I thought to myself, OMG, did he just say he missed "running the world"? Again, the press went way over board with him, but he did give them some ammo, and this would be a classic example if they were still after him. Of course, liberals, like Joe Biden say idiotic things constantly and never get lampooned by the MSM like they did with Quayle and are trying with Palin.

He got templated by the LSM after he was ambushed by the Kennedy comment in his VP debate. Sometimes he didn't help his own case, but you're right about the media double standard, Biden wouldn't be in office if he was held to the same standards as quayle was.

I saw a clip of that moment recently. Quayle looked about as nervous as a turkey the week before Thanksgiving.

Only because of alternate media sources readily available today. We need 1 more thing to happen to completely explode and expose the MSM. We need a conservative buyer to grab one of the 3 major networks and turn the news department into an honest broker of information. That would be the death of the liberal MSM. It would do for that network's news ratings as compared to the other networks, what FNC's ratings are vs. MSDNC and CNN.

Quayle was a HORRIBLE public speaker and debater.

What I’ll never forget from the debate with Gore is how he responded “I believe in life” whenever abortion was mentioned. No matter what the question: “I believe in life.”

Gore was NASTY. He worked every anti-Quayle cliché into his answers that he could, such as “deer in the headlights,” etc.

So having the same last name as someone else who has been involved in public service automatically disqualifies you? I mean, I don’t support the “Kennedy model” where every generation and everyone in the family has to be in “public service” in some capacity, but you can hardly call the Quayles a dynasty.
