Superbowl Ad Thread
Super Bowl | 2/8/2010 | Me

Posted on 02/08/2010 10:31:51 AM PST by catnipman

Well, I guess I'm finally forced to admit it. I'm officially "over the hill". I simply didn't "get" most of the Super Bowl ads. Most simply didn't make any sense what so ever to me. When I did figure a couple out, I couldn't figure out what they were advertising. And when I figured out what they were advertising, I didn't know what it was, what it did, why I needed one, and what I would do with it if I got one.

And then there seemed to be lots of ads with guys taking their clothes off for no particular reason. And not cheesecake guys, either. Just guy guys. Plain ol' office worker type guys half-naked. Also, some of the half-naked office worker guys seemed to be cavorting in hay fields for unfathomable reasons.

On the other hand, the guys that did have clothes on all seemed to be young clueless wimpy guys doing strange clueless wimpy things, and presumably if they would only buy some kind of wimpy male product like Dove something or other, then they they would be less wimpy, maybe.

Also, there were lots of guys doing really odd things to get beer. Everything except going to the store to buy some. Me? I always get my beer by getting in the car, driving to the store, and paying money to the beer store guy. I mean, that's the way my daddy taught me to get beer. Who knows? Maybe Pop was all wrong about how to get beer, and I'm crippled for life with faulty beer-getting skills.

At any rate, I was wondering if it was really just me, or did most of the Super Bowl ads seem mostly pointless, stupid and/or unfathomable?

(Disclaimer: I’m the kind of guy who thinks a real man owns a pickup truck, a 24 foot extension ladder, a chain saw, and an air compressor, though also owning at least one legal machine gun doesn’t hurt.)

It was reported that the ad was two men dunking chips toward a dip bowl who locked eyes and then locked other body parts. I can figure why CBS didn't want to tackle that one.

Well, I will not buy

-Doritos (because of the ads
-Audi (because of the ad - ostensibly making fun of the econazis, but kinda sorta praising them in a longing manner
-Bud Light (won’t touch it anyway

Any of those video gizmos being peddled.

Overall, the ads were a bust.

Couldn’t even figure out what Beyonce’s ad was peddling either.

But the game was pretty good.

I have limited experience with layers but that expoerience tells me that roosters have combs, hens don’t. I spent summers on my uncle’s farm years ago and he kept only one breed of chickens for eggs.

Also, roosters don’t lay eggs, so maybe they should be screaming in fear.

She disrespected that song.

I totally agree.....in fact she stunk up the song with her fake sincerity & patriotism and plus she had a bunch of indoctrinated young kids to add to the spectacle.

Anytime that ANY liberal, left-wing marxist pig, either sings a patriotic song, or the national anthem, or says the pledge, I want to barf all over. In fact, it actually portrays a very sinister, evil appearance & deceitfulness, whenever any libturd or demoRAT does anything so called patriotic or speaks re. faith or the Bible. They are children of darkness and their father is the Devil, the father of lies.

I know nothing of her politics and don’t care either. But patriotic songs should be sung in the intended manner.

If you watched NCIS, you would understand the head-slap is Gibbs’ token of stern affection.

I've watched every episode since its spin-off from J.A.G.

I still don't care for the head-slapping bit.

Missed that one. Missed quite a few actually. Made a point of getting up, deliberately looking away or talking during the ads.

Writers in NYC think that men other than themselves are brutish, farting louts and deserve to be treated like dirt.

Kind of how Obama thinks about all of us, too.

I wonder if the libs need to write another Order Hierarchy as in Elizabethan England. Back then, it was the Poor, then the Yeomanry, The Nobility, The Kings, The Priests, the Pope, and then G-d. Liberals would probably have it: White Heterosexual men, then white women, then white gay men, then Asians, then black and Hispanic straight men, then black and hispanic straight women, etc. I guess closest to G-d would be a gay black man?

Also, there were lots of guys doing really odd things to get beer. Everything except going to the store to buy some.

Their first mistake was wanting to get a beer but grabbing Bud Light or Miller instead.

Probably the same could be said for the Who’s vocals (although how much help can be provided?).

They should of just lip-synced to an old recording!
