Susan Boyle rejects her plans to move to a more luxurious apartment, because of her beloved cat. Despite the council house in Scotland is being broken into, her pet cat Pebbles does not want a change.
Pebbles has lived here all her life in that house and the cat hates upping sticks, says Boyle. So she has declined the offer of Sony Music , to rent a 10 million-pound mansion, in an exclusive Californian community .
Sony promised flying the cat to California, but Boyle feared that her pet might not survive the flight or be able to settle by the ocean. Though Sony also granted a housekeeper, assistant and a chauffeur, she did not accepted the offer. Boyles' friends say that she is such a home-buddy who is never ready to leave her kith and kin.
That was six years ago and to this day, she will not come in the house and she runs if I try to pet her because she thinks I am going to make her come in the house. She's so old now that we just feed her on the side porch where she has privacy and let her be rather than upset her. She has made her own little "home" in the shed and keeps the mice away.
That is a Scots expression meaning "to get up and move from one location to another." Surely you have heard the expressions "he upped and went..." or "out here in the sticks."
The magnificent soprano Kiri te Kanawa is an Australian Maori. Perhaps this is who you remember.
Awww! Neat story. At least she made an adaptation instead of running away.
Cats vary tremendously in their personalities. One of my former cats went everywhere with me when I traveled often between my home and my family home (130 miles each way). She rode in trains, cars, on my shoulders if I walked into a strange house, and also walked beside me on the sidewalk in our city neighborhood. She recognized familiar neighborhoods from blocks away as the car approached a house we visited often. She would stay over with friends if I had to go out of town, sleeping in bed with whomever. She was very tempestuous and emotional.
My other cat was very, very timid and cried when moved; yet she was very intellectual, learned and performed many tricks, and was very forgiving if I did something that displeased her (and for which my former cat would have bitten me or pee'd on the couch).
It sounds like they’re figuring out ways to spend her money. She should definitely stay put & save. Her fame won’t last forever!
Some cats do - some are more difficult. When we moved, girl cat was excited to explore the new digs. Boy cat slumped into a heap on the floor and would not respond. I called DH, who was packing at the other place, in a panic and he said, "do something familiar with him." So I assembled my recliner, pulled it up in front of the TV, sat my CAT-atonic cat in the chair and turned on Emeril Live. He eventually came around. They're all different.
Atleast it’s just ONE cat....
Awww....I know that’s annoying now, but you will miss it when your kitty is gone.
: )
She is the one who took care of her parents.....not the other way around.
I wouldnt go either and it has nothing to do with cats. She’s a homebody, not a socialite an leaving her friends and family and moving to a new country is too scary. She probably used the cat as an excuse to stay....I would probably say the same thing.
I agree. I think that Susan just wants to stay in her old home, and why shouldn’t she? Why should anyone push her to move? Why would a single woman need a mansion? She’s had so many changes in her life in less than a year that I’d think staying in familiar surroundings would help her cope with her sudden fame.
I think they should let Susan sing, and then leave her alone.
And my cats also hate any kind of move.
Our cats are indeed important. Fame has ruined many lives of the famous due to their loss of self and their dive into the follies of the rich and famous.
God bless Susan and her cat, in Jesus name, amen.
Susan Boyle has a right to decide where she and her cat will live. Why should she pull up stakes and move to California if she doesn’t want to? She doesn’t need all these other people intruding into her life. And she has earned the right to be eccentric.
I admire her all the more for staying put and being herself.
I hope she writes a will and leaves a lot of money to her parish and friends and to the equivalent of the ASPCA or Humane Society in her area.
She is one of the few singers today who actually enunciates words when she sings.
Yes a private flight to LA her kitty would probably not even know what was up. Bring her things she is familar with and Pebbles would be fine. We moved with 2 cats here and after a few hours here with their things and their people both settled in just fine.
Excellent post. I completely agree with you.
