Los Angles Fireball
vanity | February 3, 2009 | vanity

Posted on 02/03/2010 8:47:43 PM PST by BenLurkin

At about 7:25 pm local time.

Saw it while driving home on the 5 freway. A bright white light traveling very fast in a northerly direction that winked out after a moment or two.

I was in the valley and, yes, it did look like airliner landing lights.

But it was going extremely fast.

My home is just off the 5. I am not standing off the 5 with my pajamas blowing in the wind. :)

Just FYI.

Remember the early morning sonic booms a number of years ago that no one would own up to? North bound over Los Angeles would put it on the same path to a remote Nevada air field. I’m not sure what color is produced by the combustion of methane and that could be further complicated by external combustion on the hyper-cooled surface of the air foil skin. Or it could be a rock.

Glad to know I'm not losing my mind. Was driving on 5N tonight around 7:30pm and saw a huge fireball move quickly across the sky. Was waiting for an explosion or something on the news about it, but nothing. I called my son and told him about it because I've never seen anything like it. Glad to know someone else saw it too.
