Today, many in America are breathing a collective sigh of relief over the Republican victory in Massachusetts. To many, it was like pulling the emergency brakes on our collective national train before it headed off into the abyss of totalitarian socialism. Some may believe that this victory is a foretaste of what is coming in November when the Republicans will take back the country and pull us away from the edge of the cliff. At the very least, it will put the kabash on much of President Obamas agenda, specifically the so-called Health Care Reform. I dont think we should pop the cork on the champagne just yet.
Has it occurred to anyone that the same game being played by the two parties for decades has been played with this election? We know that the people who have the power will do anything to keep it and see it grow. Beginning with TARP and fueled by the Stimulus Bill and fanned by opposition to Health Care Reform and Cap and Trade, opposition to the Marxist Obama/Pelosi/Reid agenda has angered and mobilized the average American like never before. They have taken to the streets and marched on Washington. Some are openly calling for a second American Revolution. This makes the people in power very nervous. The engine that is our government is fed by our toil and treasure and is headed toward socialism. The boiler is fed a steady diet of Marxism but President Obama has stoked those fires far beyond the capacity of the people to take it. The boiler was about to explode. The Marxists didnt want to backtrack and admit they were wrong because their believe they are smarter than the rest of us. If they admitted they were wrong on Health Care, people may begin to wonder if they are wrong on other agenda items. In the middle of this overheated environment, Scott Brown comes out of nowhere to win a seat that had been held by Ted Kennedy for forty years in a state where Republicans are as rare as a tax cut in a Democratic budget. The relief valve has been engaged and the Democrats can save face. They have someone to blame-Republican obstructionists-and the opposition thinks they have been saved for the time being.
Isnt this a little too convenient? For months, this seat was a lock for the Democrats, Brown didnt have a chance. Then, with two weeks to go, an easy double digit lead evaporated. Browns opponent stuck her foot in her mouth so often she nearly choked on her high heels. The Democrats were throwing her under the bus for days before the election. Everyone is calling Browns victory a stunning reversal for Obamas policies. Perhaps even the first battle won in the war to take back our country and restore traditional American values to government. Do we really think that a Republican from a New England state is going to reverse our slide into socialism? Do we think that returning the Republicans to the drivers seat is going to change anything? Will they not, at best, hold the train in place until the Marxists can take another shot at out total subjugation?
Consider the fact that the Reagan Revolution did not make government any smaller. The Republican Revolution in 1994 led to larger and more intrusive government under George Bushs compassionate conservatism and skyrocketing spending. Cant we see it is all a game? Every year the government in Washington takes more of our wealth and liberty no matter which party is controlling the train. The arrogance and speed of the Obama administration fueled the fires for liberty like never before. It woke people up from the stupor into which a benevolent government had put them. Now we are again in danger of being lulled to sleep by the slow, easy motion of the train, once again becoming oblivious to our collective totalitarian destination. We cannot allow this to happen. The longer we wait to effect the resolution between liberty and tyranny, the more difficult and costly the struggle will become. If we allow our patriotic passions to subside in the mistaken belief that we have averted disaster, the next wave of totalitarian effort may be too great to resist.
If once the people become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and the Congress and Assemblies, Judges and Governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature, in spite of individual exceptions. Thomas Jefferson
The wolves have set about devouring our liberty, and have for a long time. They are prepared to gulp down the last remaining scraps and have paused for only a moment. As for me and my family, we are not satisfied with the few morsels of freedom still conceded by this government. Are you? If not, will you retain your passion? Are you willing to do whatever it takes to drive the wolves away and once again restore America as the land of the free and the home of the brave?

I looked it up in the Book of Gator. The rule says that we are supposed to wait 30 days before we hang our own.
I’m still celebrating last nights win.
Just when it looks as if our boat is heading in the right direction, there are those that dump the air from our sails... it’s suicidal.
We need to grab this wind at take it as far as we can.
Are those on our side immune to drawing incorrect conclusions to Senator Scott’s election yesterday?
Lesson 1: Run on keeping America secure, you will get votes.
Lesson 2: Run on keeping government out of your wallets, you will get more votes.
Lesson 3: Keep matters of conscience out of the public square, you will receive enough votes along with Lessons 1 and 2, you will be elected.
Can Conservative candidates follow that lesson plan? We shall see.
It’s really a close call. If the Dem had won, the 2010 election scene would have been a slam dunk for Republicans. As it is, the Dems have a 9 month probationary period to get the message straight and in line with voters. They can quit spending, quit taxing, and work on the unemployment rate without the distraction of pushing their socialist agenda until 2011. They had been living in Dementia World until last night, and now they are awake. They have an opportunity to change direction and save themselves.
But, since we won, we got a big boost of confidence that will attract more good candidates who believe they can win. Conservatives, who never like to throw good money after bad, will have more confidence donating. And of course, the health care bill is derailed at least for a while.
Since I have no reason to believe that Dems will actually make any change in direction, I think the election is a net positive. Now, if the public goes back to sleep and thinks that this election has solved the problem....
make me sick
Me too. Scott Brown yesterday put every Democratic seat in the country in play next fall. That is astounding. Instead of trying to pick off this or that Republican in the fall, Democrats have to defend their entire line. It will cost them a fortune and they will have to do triage. Some seats they won't have the money to defend. All thanks to Scott Brown.
If voting for Barney Frank would accomplish that, I would vote for Barney Frank.
A lot of them didn’t vote FOR Brown, a lot of them voted against Spawn of Satan Coakley and a lot of them voted AGAINST ObamaCare because they’ll be paying twice for the healthcare they already got.
Mass is already finding doctor shortages, why should we want to copy that?
You tend to lose the 'abortion is the only issue that matters' conservatives with that lesson.
BTW - that's the reason why McCain was the 2008 candidate. The single-issuers went for the Huckster because he was the only candidate advocating the pro-life holy grail of the 'Human Life Amendment'. This split the conservative vote and allowed moderate squishes to choose our candidate.
He is known to believe in access to basic healthcare as a right, he is not all that pro-abortion and he has supported civil unions for gays.
So he is by no means perfectly conservative. Too many people on our side seem to be in ecstacy over the guy and are talking about him as the candidate for Prez in 2012.
Thats plain stupid at this point.
True but the people who want Brown for President are also jumping the gun.
I agree that we must remain vigilant. Most people relax after a victory and forget the battles ahead. The danger is not Scott Brown; it is ourselves. Over years of dealing with city politicians and bureaucrats, I have learned that it takes only a single council vote to irrevocably change a neighborhood; to maintain one is an ongoing series of battles. Government is like a camel sneaking into the tent; it is easy to let in and very difficult to evict.
I believe the people have won a round with Scott Brown. Now we must take on Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the RINOs.
What started the response of conservatives to Brown was the push to further Mitt Romney through Brown, and also the instant bandwagon to make the proabortion Senator, a Presidential possibility.
Well said, cripplecreek.
Should I lock and load my 50 cal?
Do we meet at mid-night at the Boston Docks?
What are you prepared to do?
You are quoting people and insinuating things that you don't have any real intention of following through with, and if you do, you are an idiot to post them online.
Just another keyboard commando and anyone that gets involved with you is even less stable than a one winged airplane.
