Did the Minnesota Vikings run up the score on the Dallas Cowboys in Sunday's NFC divisional playoff? Keith Brooking(notes) thinks so. A late Brett Favre(notes) touchdown pass infuriated the Dallas linebacker, who charged over to the Vikings' sideline to voice his displeasure. And in his postgame press conference he didn't back down.
The Vikings had held a comfortable 27-3 lead since the early part of the fourth quarter. Dallas looked completely deflated after going down 24 points and the team's subsequent play did nothing to dispel that notion. On the Cowboys' next two possessions the team went four-and-out, gaining a mere 14 yards on eight plays.

Yes. Is there a penalty for excessive celeration in professional football? Our high school team was penalized for excessive celebration after scoring to break a tie in the last minute of the game. They didn’t call the touchdown back but gave a yardage penalty for the point after. PC is stoopid.
70,000 fans in Chicago, all screaming for Favre's head. He gets under center, camera zooms in for a closeup....
And Favre has a HUGE grin on his face. Sheer Bliss. Sez me, "This is why he came back. This is a guy doing exactly what he wants, right at this very second."
I climbed aboard the bandwagon, would love to see him go out with a win.
FWIW,He tossed a perfect strike into the endzone. Touchdown, Game goes to OT. (they later lost....)
call a WAHHHHmbulance.
It is NFL football — taking a knee is stupid! The Vikes sent a message they are in it to win which is how it should be when you play football.
It is a tough call who to root for but the Vikings win out every so slightly with having Adrian Peterson and Phill Loadholt from the Oklahoma Sooners although the Saints have Jamaal Brown and Garrett Hartley from the Sooners as well. It is hard to root against Hartley who my son had in his class he taught at OU.
Although seeing AD get a Super Bowl ring would be AWESOME so I am supporting the Vikes on Sunday. AD has a summer camp here in Norman for young kids. We see purple AD shirts in the stadium during game days ever since he went to the Vikings.
The Vikes have long been known for not having a killer instinct.
This is the playoffs.
They needed to do this.
"The Vikings Beat Us Real Bad"
Anyone want to guess why Brooking’s nickname in Atlanta was “The Ten Yard Sheriff”?
I agree, and what about the mugging the Refs were allowing the girls to do to Harvin over the middle without throwing flags.
The pundits and even the Refs wanted the cowboys to win as far as I was concerned
All week long all I heard was how the boys were going to annihilate the Vikings.
Favre never beat them in the playoffs, that’s what they said, the Vikings are not that good they said, the boys are going all the way they said.
Well, as Berman said, that’s why they play the game.
Now they claim mthe Vikes do not have a chance against the Saints. Well the Vikes put New Orleans on notice, we are coming after you. And we can score with the best of them.
correct.
and Coach Chillydog is good pals with Andy Reid(Philly coach)...he’s just returning a favor. What comes around goes around.
Just another overpaid thug with too many tatoos and stuck on steroid-stupid.
Was this an issue when the Cowboys did it to the Eagles two weeks in a row? A combined 58-14 score, that could be considered running it up, but you didn’t see any Eagles running over to the Dallas sideline bitching.
Only crybabies come out when they get their asses handed to them instead of getting what they wanted.
I agree about the killer instinct. It’s message sending time and the Vikes sent one to N.O.

Just for Percy Harvin alone, I’m rooting for the Vikes. Although we sure could have used him back in December against Bama.
Did not see any such concern about running up the score from the Cowboys when they were spanking the Eagles 2 weeks in a row.
Our defense just rocked.
No matter what happens in the future, this will be put away in my memory bank as one of my favorite experiences.
I don't know what next week will bring, but I say bring it on. Vikes vs Jets in the SuperBowl!!!!!!
This will live on as the year of the 4's! #4 turns 40. This is his 4th NFL team. He threw 4 touchdowns yesterday. And in three weeks #4 will be playing in SuperBowl 44!!!!!!!!!
Good to read you on the thread. Thought you were MIA yesterday on the NFL thread.
If the Cow babies could tackle, the outcome may have been different.
Romo is nomo next year in Dallas.
2 seconds! ;-)

Hey, come on. As a 66 YO life-long Packer fan, let's show a little class. We didn't make it. Time to roll up the sleeves and root for the division, and the league in the big one. I'd even be rooting for the Bears (then the Vikings, then the Lions) if they were still in contention and we weren't. This is only football, after all, and there's no reason to show bitterness. That's what Brookings was doing.
The Vikes also wanted to score since it was their last home game for the season. I don’t think they try to score if they hosted next week’s game.
