The whales they are hunting are not endangered. Use facts in your arguments and you will gain credibility, maybe. These whales have been hunted for decades by the Japanese. You want to change the way things are and have been for a couple hundred years because of how you feel. The facts do not support your stance. Logic and truth seem to be beyond your comprehension.
You have no right to dictate how others live.

"AND PLEASE SHOW ME PROOF THEY ARE NOT ENDANGERED!"

Okay - here goes.........

According to the International Whaling Commission, it is very hard to get reliable numbers for creatures that spend the bulk of their lives underwater in deep oceans, but their estimates are roughly.....

Blue Whales.......1,150 - 4,500

Humpback Whales.... 75,000 or so

Minke Whales.......in excess of 1,000,000

Now I don't care who you are, THAT ain't endangered.

No, but here's a photo of one:

I don't care if this gets me banned. Those whalers are scum.

Doesn't the law carry any weight with you?

My only regret is that the Captain didn’t go down with his ship.

And here is the crap they are feeding the children. Little ones who are the most vulnerable! HUMAN HEALTH SIGNIFICANCE OF ORGANOCHLORINE AND MERCURY CONTAMINANTS IN JAPANESE WHALE MEAT "The concentrations of total mercury, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and organochlorine pesticides ( ΣDDT, dieldrin, hexachlorobenzene [HCB], and ΣHCH) were determined in 61 whale meat products (bacon, blubber, red meat, liver, intestine, and tongue) purchased from retail outlets across Japan. Mean (range) concentrations of contaminants in all samples were: total mercury 4.17 (0.01-204); ΣPCB 1.14 (0-8.94); ΣDDT 0.98 (0-7.46); dieldrin 0.07 (0-0.35); HCB 0.06 (0-0.22); and ΣHCH 0.07 (0-0.19) µg/g (wet weight). The data were used to calculate estimated daily intakes (EDIs) of contaminants at two hypothetical levels of whale meat consumption. These EDIs were compared with FAO/WHO "tolerable daily intake" (TDI) values for each chemical. EDIs calculated for higher levels of whale meat consumption were in some cases exceptionally high* and for many products exceeded FAO/ WHO-TDIs for total mercury, PCBs, and dieldrin, with exceedance factor values (EDI/TDI) for total mercury, PCBs, and dieldrin reaching maxima of 175, 5.36, and 2.1, respectively." http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/content~db=all~content=a713853239

The Sea Shepherd's anti-whaling speedboat Ady Gill has sunk after it was sliced in two by a Japanese whaling vessel during a clash in the Southern Ocean on Wednesday.

Good riddance.

My kudos to the Shonan Maru #2 for standing up to these envirowhackos.

I don't care if this gets me banned. Those whalers are scum. They are the scum of the earth. And for FReepers who think they are God Almighty I implore you to go to Alaska during the Summer and take a boat ride to look at the humpback whales.

I agree with you. Those japs are heartless! They eat fish while they are still alive!

I think deer are absolutely beautiful animals, but deer meat is my absolute favorite meat. One can still appreciate an animal and still believe it serves a purpose.

Humans are omnivores whether the vegan libs like it or not. Hormone pumped meat from corporate farms may be unhealthy, but we are still meat eaters.

As far as hunters go. Hunt all you want. As long as it is legal. Hunt deer, pheasant, duck, geese, rabbit what have you. These animals aren't near the point of oblivion.

Be aware that Paul Watson (of Sea Shepherd) opposes *all* hunting and fishing, despite the fact that hunters and fisherman contribute more money to conservation efforts (through license fees) than all of his rich, foolish donors.

Further, Patrick Moore (co-founder of Greenpeace) has incurred the wrath of his former organization because he now states, for the record and quite convincingly, that most of what the public hears about "endangered species" is deliberate, fear-mongering nonsense. This is a guy who once got up close and personal with the *Soviet* whaling fleet, and he's saying that this "hunted to the brink of extinction" stuff is bogus.

No, but they are specifically bread and raised by humans, not hunted in the wild. Moreover, these creatures do not have more children *because* they are eaten by humans. They have more offspring because they are being bred and raised by humans to do so.

Note that in the second video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bbuq0YEIPNU the Japanese ships entire starboard side is visible in the initial frame, but that the ships port side is visible at 9th second of the video. I don't know how to explain that except for a turn to starboard, into the Ady Gil.

Someone on another thread said that motion could be caused by the Japanese putting the rudder hard over away from the Ady Gil, but the more i look at it the less I buy that argument.

Now arguing if it is OK to ram a ship that is trying to disable your vessel in high seas is another matter. Self defense is generally agreed to be OK in both legal and karma terms.

Mr Watson says they were able to remove all the fuel from the speedboat to prevent any pollution.

Nice job, idiot. That probably shifted the boat's trim forward allowing more seawater to flood through the open bow section during the tow. The marine casuality assessors will also investigate post-collision actions by the crew.

Amen! I go organic with my meats... organic, free-range moose, caribou, venison, black bear, mt. goat, waterfowl ;-)

To me it looks like the vessel that the vieo is being filmed from is moving to (our) left.

The video is being taken from the other eco ship that is crossing the bow of the Japanese ship changing the angle on the bow as the video is running. Also, you can see the smaller ship accelerate in front of the whaling ship as the angle does NOT change indicating that the whaling ship is starting to turn away from the smaller boat.
