Note that in the second video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bbuq0YEIPNU the Japanese ships entire starboard side is visible in the initial frame, but that the ships port side is visible at 9th second of the video. I don't know how to explain that except for a turn to starboard, into the Ady Gil.
Someone on another thread said that motion could be caused by the Japanese putting the rudder hard over away from the Ady Gil, but the more i look at it the less I buy that argument.
Now arguing if it is OK to ram a ship that is trying to disable your vessel in high seas is another matter. Self defense is generally agreed to be OK in both legal and karma terms.

The video is being taken from the other eco ship that is crossing the bow of the Japanese ship changing the angle on the bow as the video is running. Also, you can see the smaller ship accelerate in front of the whaling ship as the angle does NOT change indicating that the whaling ship is starting to turn away from the smaller boat.
