Guiliani will NOT run for Senate this year. Like him or not, he was best chance for a MORE CONSERVATIVE candidate.
Don't waste time with the "not Conservative enough" mantra. He was better than anyone else with a chance to get elected.
Rudy’s getting a little tiresome. Since leaving the mayor’s office, he never runs where he would have the best chance and could do the most good (winning in a leftist state), but runs where he has little chance and only confuses the presidential choices until the actual voting starts.
Didn’t his business just sign a multi-million $ contract in Brazil?
Mary Christmas
what about governor????...that is more his speed....and yes, it is as conservative as it gets here in NY.
Maybe he could run homeland security in a Palin admin. That is an important exc post, away from abortion.
If he wants to be Chief Exec of NY State, fine.
I’d support Giuliani in that role.
I'd be happy to see him in a place where we could make use of that while keeping him out of domestic policy.
Both Romney and Giuliani are life long liberals who have supported everything from abortion rights, gun control, special rights for homos, globaloneyism, amnesty and bigger government. Ever hear of RomneyCare? Romney is a socialist. As Mayor of NYC Giuliani didn't reduce the size of government, he just shifted tax funding around to make it run more efficiently. Rooty did put more teachers to work, however, which made the NEA and the AFT overjoyed.
Btw, Free Republic doesn't support any liberal for public office. Including Romney, Giuliani, or Obama.
he is a fine NY RINO.
he would be a good governor....a good Senator from NY...but THATS IT. (I would gladly pull the lever for him under those conditions)
it is the best we can expect here in NY but he is a RINO through and through...I share his views on crime, national defense, and his passion for the NY Yankees....he made the best Mayor that can be elected in NYC....likewise he would make the best possibe governor or senator that can be expected in NY
but his anti-gun, pro abortion, pro illegals, anti constitution NY City ways cannot and should not play well in fly over country....His leftist slant on those things make him unelectable as President....
Rooty is a LIBERAL. Most of his record is a lie. Why would any of us want to support a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-tax, gun grabbing coward for president?
I forgot about King and you’re right, he’d make an excellent candidate.
He served under Reagan, was Ass’t Attorney General and then became U.S. Attorney assigned to clean up Wall Street—which he did. His closest friend in the Justice Department was Ted Olsen—who vouches for Rudy as a strict constructionist. He’s a strong fiscal and law-and-order and pro-military conservative. It’s true he’s not pure enough for some—for the social conservatives especially who don’t understand the dilemma for a big city politician. The bottom line was it would have been impossible for Rudy to have run for Mayor of NYC had he not been pro-choice—though his sympathies did not lie with pro-abortionists. Under his administration he was proactive in lowering the abortion rate and increasing the rate of adoptions—and did so dramatically.
“FWIW Dick Morris guaranteed Hannity that Rudy was not running last week.”
Well, ain’t that amazing. As we all know, Mr. Morris is almost always wrong. Don’t believe me? Just check with any thread concerning him on FR. The experts that post on it will assure you that Morris is almost always wrong about political forecasts.
And, of course, the thread won’t go far until someone comments on his fetish. As though that has anything to do with anything.
No better than Romney or Obama? At least TRY to make a few distinctions. Romney has liberal proclivities, but he’s no socialist. And Rudy IS different from both with a record to prove it. Open your mind a little.
And got DEMOTED.
His closest friend in the Justice Department was Ted Olsenwho vouches for Rudy as a strict constructionist.
Olsen is almost as big a liberal as Rooty.
Hes a strong fiscal and law-and-order and pro-military conservative.
False.
Its true hes not pure enough for somefor the social conservatives especially who dont understand the dilemma for a big city politician.
He's a pure LIBERAL.
The bottom line was it would have been impossible for Rudy to have run for Mayor of NYC had he not been pro-choicethough his sympathies did not lie with pro-abortionists.
False.
Under his administration he was proactive in lowering the abortion rate and increasing the rate of adoptionsand did so dramatically.
False. Adoption rates rose nationwide due to an increase in Chinese and eastern European adoptions.
“And I hope he DOES run for president.”
Except the conservatives won’t support him and neither will the damacrats...
But apparently they're content to be subjugated by them by voting in ways that ensure they get into power. Then they b*tch b*tch b*tch endlessly about it.
Okay, he has never had the chance to impose socialized medicine and he is a natural born citizen.
Romney has liberal proclivities, but hes no socialist.
Yes, he is.
And Rudy IS different from both with a record to prove it.
Wrong.
Open your mind a little.
We don't need to, we went through all of this three years ago.
Lordy I would hate for that Guiliani to pick our next Supreme Court judge. Far better for Obama to do it next term.
You may well be right. I admit I'm just speculating. But his behavior in the presidential election was not that of someone who understood politics as much as someone who wanted out of the race.
I think the more interesting issue here is how long it takes the anti-rudys to show up.
(Popping popcorn...)
