My first copy of the book was a Christmas present from my dad many years ago.

I have my red, white and blue tree up and all the presents are wrapped in ‘Christmas story’ paper.

We used to shoot it downstairs - probably a good 30’ to the target. (A bunch of newspapers in a shopping bag). Mom would always get mad chasing the bb’s around the tile floor with the vaccum cleaner.

Not quite as mad as she got when Dad tried out my brother’s .22 down there though!

Is my sons' favorite Christmas movie

Have sent DVD's to Iraq for him 2 of the times he was there over during Christmas.

He "triple-dogged-dared me" too!

Never seen Christmas Story all the way through.

You must not have any children or grandchildren.

This movie is a legend in this house. We saw it originally when it was shown in theaters the day after Christmas. We keep the marathon on TBS on all 24 hours. This year there is a rival marathon of Home Alone on Fox Movie Channel...36 Hours of Home Alone starting 6 pm Christmas Eve.

I send out leg lamps as gifts in the crate etc...we worship at the altar of this film :)

It was on TNT on Thursday night at 10 pm...odd time to show it and as far as I know..the only other time it is aired other than the marathon.

A couple of days before Christmas, we'll gather round and watch "A Christmas Story".

And when the closing credits roll, those of us of adult beverage age will raise our mugs of Blatz and toast the memory of Jean Shepherd, the greatest storyteller America has yet produced.

Here's TO ya, Shep!

“You must not have any children or grandchildren.”

More like must not have ever been a child! Not bashing the SnakeDoctor - everyone has their own tastes in movies. But in our family I am the one that likes the movie the most. For the nostalgia of it probably. The kids can take it or leave it.

Wow, I got my first BB gun for Christmas when I was 7 or so. It was a Daisy.
