Darren McGavin as the ‘old man’ made the movie work.

That’s a “lot” of “quotation” “marks”.
Never seen Christmas Story all the way through.

the only airing I could find was a Christmas Day marathon on TBS.
Would like to watch it earlier. May just buy the DVD.

I always get a tear in my eye when I remember getting my first BB gun at Christmas 40 years ago. My old man had stuck it behind the couch and it was hidden from view. Just like in the movie. (sniff)

Every Christmas for the past 25 years or more, the Kansas City Repertory Theater has done a fantastic performance of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol". This year the bonehead who was recently appointed artistic director decided to replace "A Christmas Carol" with the world premiere of his pet project, "A Christmas Story: The Musical". I didn't like the movie, I'm damned sure not going to see the play, and I hope Rosen rots in hell for ruining a great family tradition.
That's the only "A Christmas Story" story I got.

The first DVD I owned was "A Christmas Story." True story, when I bought my DVD player, it was a Toshiba and cost about $400. My wife (then girlfriend) and I went halfsies on it. The store that had it for sale offered a free movie with every DVD player purchase. Titanic - on VHS. This was in the fall of 1998.
The last regular DVD player I bought was two years ago and cost $40. It does more than the first one ever did, or could think of doing, but 11 years later, the first one still works fine.

My old man had stuck it behind the couch and it was hidden from view. Just like in the movie. (sniff)I got mine about 30 years ago. My grandparents made me go on a wild goose chase to get it. Little notes all over the farm. Find one, figure out the clue, get to the next one. After about ten or so, it said "Go back in the house." My Daisy was sitting there waiting for me. I think my uncle has it now, as it stayed at the farm.
