Anybody have the scoop on Michael Savage's dinner date with Mitt Romney? (Vanity)
The Savage Nation radio show | December 4, 2009 | heard it on his show

Posted on 12/06/2009 1:15:49 PM PST by hennie pennie

On Friday night, Michael Savage kept reiterating that he was leaving early because he was going have dinner with potentially the next president of the United States.

He was trying to be secretive by using the phrases "him or her" and "he or she" -- but the only big name Republican anywhere near him in San Francisco was Mitt Romney who addressed some type of economic conference. (And Governor Palin was en route from Texas to Virginia, I believe, though perhaps I have the wrong date...)

I was expecting to see reports about this meeting of two great minds, here on Free Republic. Am I missing where information about this meeting was already posted?

Does anybody have any information? For instance, how long has Mike Savage been an afficianado of Mitt Romney?

Thanks.

Savage is witty, funny and he deserves his audience. He's a sharp observer, and well-educated. He's also an abusive, manic-depressive boozer who doesn't really care about his listeners or even about the conservative movement --not really.

What Savage has alllways wanted is to hang out with people who are thought of as important, and especially for those people to court him --to him, this is the REAL imprimateur of legitimacy. Why else did he court the favor of 60's homo poet Allen Ginsberg, or LSD ghuru Timothy O'Leary...? For a short time also he has gone after Moonbeam Jerry Brown, or Gavin Newsom, even (albeit briefly).

He craves ratings, sure, but what he really wants is an entre into the elite --he'd sell us all for that.

In the end, dear old Mike is not nearllllly one of us as it first appears. But hey, as long as along his path he converts more folks to conservativism, I'm fine with it.

I'M NOT SOME SCHMUCK BLOGGIN IN BASEMENT, THOUGH, MIKE, YOU DIRTY JERK.

Mark Levin recently had Sarah Palin on his radio talk show
for an interview.

Mark has said he likes Sarah Palin a lot.
and Mark is also a FReeper

Just another reason us Levonites are fans of Mark rather
than Weiner nation Savage.

Interesting assessment! I don't often listen to him, but happened to hear part of a late overnight repeat of his show, and it got my curiousity...

I would have thought that if they went out to dinner that someone somewhere would have tweeted about it, you know??

The way you depict him, he sounds a bit "nouveau intellectual," so to speadk, very insecure in himself if he needs to seek admiration from such silly cutural "icons" as Leary & Ginsberg, what a couple of pathetic people, hey?

I've never read any of his books, so I had no idea that he was interested in Jerry Brown???? Moonbeam And Savage - that would be a team, hey?

That's really interesting, though, what you're explaining about his core psychological motivation -- to be honored by the IN-Crowd.

LOLOLOL

It's kind of different, though, when a celebrity in his own right is so needy for whomever is currently high & mighty.

I wonder if he'd roll over and play Dem if Desiree Rogers sent him an invite to attend some function at the WH along with the Salahis? :)

Interesting, I don't hear the Savage Nation frequently, but it just occurred to me that I've never heard him mention anything about FR and/or freepers.

Personally, I'm suspicious of people who dislike Sarah Palin, but perhaps that is because of the vile way that she was received by the MSM and the Dems after McCain selected her. Theirs was a extreme pathologicallly negative overreaction.

Interesting, although I was aware that Dr. Savage wasn't terribly impressed by Governor Palin, I had no idea that Mitt Romney didn't like her.

I was surprised by Mike Savage's negativity, because it seemed to me that plenty of conservative Alaskans who elected her to governor may well number among his listeners. And if he still is overtly negative, it's peculiar, because nowadays she is so very popular.... except with the MSM and the Dems.

I am sorry to say this, but mandating the purchase of health care is so contradictory to a free society that the similarities between two people supporting mandated health insurance outweigh the difference that could be drawn between the two by observing both parties international discourse.
I just finished a book, I was required to read. The name of the book is In The Name of Identity by Amin Maalouf. When I started the book I was afraid it would be an apology for terrorism, but I found that it was an insightful book that cautioned society against participating in a “tyranny of the majority.” The book defended peoples right to self identify without defending violence, but it did reference history to prove that total disregard for human identity can result in violence.
The point of this is that American Identity is the Identity of freedom, “The Land of the Free” as the lyric goes. If elected officials refuse to recognize that the Health Care mandate is going to threaten American’s identity as a free people, then hopefully the only repercussions will be decisive defeat of the Democratic Party in 2010. Mitt Romney supports mandated health care insurance, so he opposes individual liberty and I can never support him. I could probably support DeMint or Hunter, I am not sure, but Mitt is out of the question.

I don’t listen to Doc Savage on a regular basis, but I really can’t recall ever hearing him saying anything good about Romney. Savage reluctanty endorsed McCain, if I remember correctly, and he doesn’t like Palin at all.

I actually thought that there'd already be reports all about it on FR, but couldn't locate any. I was thinking that someone somehwere should have seen them together and twittered about it, perhaps, or taken some cell phone photographs and posted them online.

But so far, nothing. We'll probably have to wait for weeks before we learn all the details -- not that I'll listen to his show nightly, not by any means, but eventually, the details should be posted in the daily radio show messagethread about him here on FR.

Hi, SoCalPol.

Now that is so counterintuitive, that Michael Savage supports Jerry Moonbeam Brown; that is simply.... NUTS. LOL!!

Yikes, which is MORE "out there" -- California politics or Mike Savage???? He contributes $$$$$ to Governor Moonbeam, but he considers himself a conservative???

wOw. Just wOw.

That's so pathetic, it's almost sad.

Surely when he happens to use the phrase, “the nuts,” he is projecting?

Weiner is more Libertarian than a Conservative.
He is too obnoxious and disingenuous to be considered
a player

I’m 100% sure that Savage did NOT have dinner with Mitt Romney. Savage called Romney a fraud on his show about a month ago. Here are some more people we can rule out:

Mike Schmuckabee
Sarah Palin
Bobby Jindal
Newt Gingrich

Rule out Tim Pawlenty, too. Dr. Savage doesn’t have confidence in him. I quote, “Tim Pawlenty? Never heard of him.” He was being sarcastic.
