Whatever state. I’d rather have someone swing at me than break my heart. I’ve been there, it’s no fun. At least when it’s physical, you stand a chance of defending yourself. I’m speaking strictly from a spousal POV, not a legal, state or judicial one. Emotional pain is worse. But you can’t put a pricetag on it.

Well, some of those Amish crank up the carriages with too much horsepower. I even saw one with Clydesdales once and tricked out axles that bounced up an down. Durn Amish kids...

I am a big Tiger fan, golf fan in general and avid golfer.

Although I do feel compassion for the family, I find the image of Tiger being chased by his wife with a golf club hysterically ironic. I think they should do a spoof comercial and advertise the following products:

Nike: Clubs for her-running shoes for him

Cadillac-Reliable when you need to get away....great safety rating.

Hanes-He’s gonna need some clean shorts after all that.

Yep, I have to agree that her whacking him with golf club is kind of poetic. She has panache even though she is nuts.

“Souped up carriages...” lol. No, she was on her way to my house (at 1am) and rounded a turn in the road. Dark, very rainy, narrow winding country road. And there were 4 kids on their scooters (very popular here among the Amish) abreast, on her side of the road. It was either hit them or swerve into the ditch and of course she swerved. Hit the mailbox, she wasn’t going very fast so it just messed up the grill a bit but the box went through the glass. I’d been by that way about a half hour before and saw 2 of the kids in the road, luckily I had enough time for them to get out of my way. A guy helping us move saw them earlier too.

We’re just very grateful that she’s ok and more so, that she didn’t hit any of them.

It really sucks though. She’s basically homeless (our mom died in June, she’d been living Mom with her son since her divorce, there is no insurance and we had to sell the house just before losing it to foreclosure. Sister’s car was stolen in Sept, never recovered, so she was driving our Mom’s car. And she lost her state job last spring, due to cutbacks. So she has no home, no money, no job and for the time being, no car.) The two of them are living in my living room until the house sale money comes out of escrow in March, then she’ll have enough $$ to get a place.) On the plus side, she got a job Wed. But transportation is going to be a bit tricky for awhile.

For some reason I just keep asking myself; who gives a crap about tiger woods marital problems.

The only people who should be at all interested are those at his auto insurance carrier.

Call me when his wife is running around the yard naked... swinging a golf club.

argh

You make a good point there. I know what it is like to have my heart broken. After all, most people have experienced it. However, a majority of us know right from wrong and that no matter what kind of emotional damage we are suffering from, we do not even think of striking at another person in a physical way.

Not only did Tiger not vote for Obama, he regularly provides support to the troops and recognition to the wounded warriors. Everybody needs to stay out of his personal life. There are far more important things that need our attention!

So, do you think she should have gone with a wedge? Seems like a 7 iron was a little too much club...

I think the law is that if the police even think that one person hit the other one, they MUST arrest and prosecute someone for domestic violence.

The intent is to deal with those people who fight all the time but then make up the next day I guess. Also wives who refuse to prosecute their abusive husbands and then one day very badly beats or kills her.

Most of the time it is the man abusing the wife, and my (non-professional) understanding is that for that reason they will always take the husband in if they go to the scene of a domestic disturbance even if it is obvious she struck or scratched him (because he's bigger and stronger) and they have to seperate them so they don't get sued for failure to protect or whatever if they go back to fighting again later.

The bad thing is that if it is some situation like say you are trying to wrestle the keys away from your drunk spouse who wants to drive the car and bystanders call the cops, the person who was trying to take the car keys can go to jail for domestic violence.

Then it's time to get a lawyer and have a friend bail out the person accused of domestic violence (as they may not let the spouse show up to bail the person out, and may well issue a protection order forbidding the accused from even talking to or contacting in any way the "victim" until after the trial).

So in other words a real legal mess that isn't going to do anything but risk jail time for one or both of them and cost them a lot of money.

Definitely serious business and time to get a lawyer and legal advice. And definitely to follow some very important legal advice:

Million Dollar Legal Advice - "Don't talk to the police"

although I think your ACLU christmas card is a good idea, spamming it in unrelated threads is not.

I did think about it. Thought about it a lot. There were nights when I couldn’t sleep and wanted to get out of bed, but was afraid if I moved a muscle, I would literally beat my husband half to death. I wanted to, so bad. I had dreams where I was hitting him and hitting him and he was just laughing because I couldn’t hit him hard enough to hurt him the way I really wanted to (who says dreams don’t mean something?)

I’ve never raised my hand to anyone and I probably never will. I’m not physical. But boy, for a long time, if I hadn’t exercised every ounce of self control I have and then some, I could have done some serious damage. Hubby knew it too. He actually said he wished I would, just let my anger and hurt go and hit him if I wanted to. He felt he deserved it. But I couldn’t do it, even in the worst of it all. Can honestly say I’d understand how good swinging a 9 iron at someone would feel though.

Mr Woods does not deny he was driving.

I have never heard of a situation in which one could hit two different objects with a vehicle at 3am and simply be able to refuse to talk to the LEOS.

Unless of course your Ted Kennedy , Michale Jackson and now Tiger Woods.

This is the opening act of the Tiger Freak show.

Well, the least of her concerns is the mailbox right now, as inconvenient as it might be for the owner. Country songs, never thought of that but I might have some good material now, huh? Maybe there is a way out of this for all of us ;)

I strongly disagree. There is never any excuse for physical violence in a relationship. He may have been unfaithful. He may have hurt her emotionally. Once you open the door to violence, the door cannot be closed. His behavior may be grounds for divorce but there is no criminal behavior nor should we have laws to criminalize this behavior. There are barbaric societies that criminalize his alleged behavior but I would not want to be part of those societies.
