Speak Now, Tiger, Or Forever Hold Your Peace

Speak Now, Tiger, Or Forever Hold Your Peace Golfer must speak publicly about car crash — and rumors of Uchitel affair

Courtney Hazlett

When Tiger Woods got in the car just before 2:25 a.m. Friday, he didn’t just crash into a fire hydrant. He had a head-on collision with another object: the invisible bowels of the bad-publicity machine, which in more than 13 years of professional golf, he’d been able to avoid.

As a college athlete in the mid-1990s, my circle overlapped with Woods’ from time to time, and I can attest there are plenty of stories about a slightly awkward Stanford golfprodigy that could be filed under “typical college kid behavior,” or twisted into tabloid fodder.

As a fledgling journalist at Golf World magazine in the early 2000s, I can attest to similar stories of the youngest golfer to achieve a career grand slam behaving in a way that might have looked bad on paper.

But these stories never really materialized. Thrown clubs and the errant F-bombs were chalked up to pressures of the sport and apologies followed. So why has an accident in the driveway turned into a full-blown train wreck? Because much like a guy named David Letterman, up until now Woods’ public life and private persona have had few intersections, and the former has been for the most part, unimpeachable.

I don’t blame him for not talking to the cops.
Nothing he says will help him, and anything he says can hurt him.

The police can now file spousal abuse charges without either one of the couple pressing charges. I think this change sprang from women refusing to press charges when beaten.

Fire hydrants get hit all the time in car accidents. Is it really considered ‘reckless’? (And I’m not being a smart*ss, just wondering.) What about road signs or telephone poles that are wiped out and have to be replaced? I’ve never known anyone to be charged in regards to those. You just made me think about them.

Forensics can prove whether his injuries were from a car accident ... or from being beaten with a gold club at another location.

The law said nothing about causing emotional damage. Whatever Tiger did is between him and his wife. It is not our business. The law is only interested in that Tiger’s wife physically assaulted him.

In a year, all the idiots with a lot of money will definately have buyer’s remourse for having voted for 0bama. But, I don’t think Tiger voted for the evil bastard.

So writes Courtney Hazlett

As a retired writer/columnist/editor, this trite little "Look at me, I know Tiger!" gal trying to capitalize on someone else's bad times, would have the editor's red pen all over her bitc*y face.

She should apply for a spot on The View.

" must speak publicly about car crash — and rumors of Uchitel affair ..." so says Courtney.

To which I say: "Why?"

Whose business is HIS private business?

OMG!. He once swore! He's thrown his golf clubs down before! Well that does it. I thought because he's such a flawless golfer, he's also a flawless person. s/

Tiger is a golfer. The only thing that is any of our concern is how he plays his game. He owes us nothing as far as his personal life is concerned.

So "he must speak publicly", eh Courtney? Maybe you should do the opposite, before people think of you as an

Not so. This change happened when women refused to press charges against abusive husbands.

The police can now prove whether the wounds were inflicted from the accident in the vehicle or from another weapon [a gold club] some where else. Tiger and his wife are trying to stave this off.

Yeah, I know. The state brings the charges, to lessen the ‘you had me arrested’ factor. But I’ll betcha my firstborn, they won’t press charges against her for some scratches on his face. No wait, my secondborn. He’s been more of a handful, lol.

LOL, are you in law enforcement, if so there is something called the fifth. Mr woods is not required to provide physical evidence to anyone about himself are his wife and since no one saw him in the car they cannot prove he was driving it.

Is the law really interested in it? Or just the salacious general public?

“What about road signs or telephone poles that are wiped out and have to be replaced?”

You are liable for them. You are billed for their replacement if it is required. I know this to be true in at least two states.

Send the ACLU a Christmas card this year.. Make sure it says CHRISTMAS

There is an email going around and there will be tens of thousands (HOPEFULLY) dumped on their office this Christmas season.

They WILL open them because a lot of their mail is donations.

Take up their time and give them a massive headache

I just printed off an 8x10 MERRY CHRISTMAS Celebrate the Birthday of Our LORD JESUS and put it into a standard #10 business envelope so it wouldn't look like a card. I also used a security envelope so they couldn't see through and know there wasn't a check.

I suggest passing this great idea to EVERYONE in your email friends list... make this a CHRISTMAS the ACLU will never forget!

Their Address
ACLU
125 BROAD STREET
18th Floor
NEW YORK, NY 10004

Must be nice to be able to hit a fire Hydrant and a tree at 3am and not even have to talk to the Cops.

Some are more equal than others.

And I didn’t say she COULD press charges against him. I know the law doesn’t allow it. I said they should be able to.

I know you are a fan. But law enforcement can press charges for spousal abuse.

Having said that, I do NOT thing this will go anywhere. After all, it’s Tiger Woods.
