Early modern humans and their predecessors in Europe were mostly big game hunters, but a pile of well-nibbled bird bones suggests that at least some prehistoric European cavemen enjoyed small prey too, according to a new study. The 202 bones, belonging to the Aythya genus of diving ducks, were found at Bolomor Cave near the town of Tavernes in Valencia, Spain. The ducks date to around 150,000 years ago, and were not eaten daintily. "The birds were de-fleshed using both stone tools and teeth," co-author Ruth Blasco told Discovery News, noting that some of the ducks may have even been consumed raw... Blasco, a researcher at the Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution in Tarragona, Spain, and colleague Josep Fernandez Peris analyzed the duck bones under high magnification. They determined three characteristics allow the bird remains to be considered duck dinner leftovers... Although both Neanderthal and modern human remains have been found at the Bolomor Cave complex, the geological level of the roasted duck finds suggests that Homo heidelbergensis is the human species that ate the duck meals.

Homo heidelbergensis, believed to be ancestor to Neandertal...To all -- please ping me to other topics which are appropriate for the GGG list. The Neandertal EnigmaFrayer's own reading of the record reveals a number of overlooked traits that clearly and specifically link the Neandertals to the Cro-Magnons. One such trait is the shape of the opening of the nerve canal in the lower jaw, a spot where dentists often give a pain-blocking injection. In many Neandertal, the upper portion of the opening is covered by a broad bony ridge, a curious feature also carried by a significant number of Cro-Magnons. But none of the alleged 'ancestors of us all' fossils from Africa have it, and it is extremely rare in modern people outside Europe." [pp 126-127] |

tasted like chicken, no doubt...
ya mean they were not vegetarians? whoa...
Thanksgiving. So simple a caveman can do it.
There I beat you to the punch :)
joo eat yours with the feathers still on? ; )
Why do you got to bring the Jews into it?
;)
Well of course Cavemen (early humans) roasted birds.
It is necessary to roast or cook fowl because of the way they are factory processed. The processing leaves it susceptible to various types of contamination, especially when processed outside the U.S.
They prolly ate it raw a few times, got sick, and started roasting them. IMO
Bet they wished they had the Ronco Bird Deflesher-o-matic, which they could have had for just six easy payments.
Imagine using your teeth to remove bird flesh from the bone!
Squab and polenta. Very tasty!
So, some scientist is telling us what went on 150,000 years ago according to some “marks” on some bird bones. I’ve never really went along with any of these long ago pronouncements, but now that the climate “scientists” have been shown to be frauds, I have even less inclination to believe any of them.
Those are not “marks”, they are marks. But thanks for the laugh.
Or you submerge yourself in the swamp, wait for the ducks to come near and grab 'em from underneath. If several guys were waiting in the reeds at one end of a pond others on land could approach slowly from the other end and herd the ducks into the trap.
Okay, quit grabbin’ ducks by the ass. ;’)
This cave was actually a prehistoric restaurant, and apparently these cave men ran up a big bi-
No, I can’t say it.
I going to root through my neighbors garbage and determine what they ate for Thanksgiving. My current theory is that they did not deep fry the turkey, prefer white to dark meat (possible racists) and used canned cranberry sauce. I will apply for a large gub'mint grant to fully study the evidence.
Perhaps they made their own cranberry sauce!! truly exciting but sad because they are turkey meat racists.
next I'll study how this all relates to the Giants taking a beating
Pretty soon the excavators of this cave will find the fossil puke from that. ;’)
