Many of us parents just learned that ONE teacher complained that it offended her and they nixed the tradition. We are HOPPING mad and plan to do something about it. Any EFFECTIVE ideas????
I am NOT afraid to fight the fight, just want to be smart.
What school...and, what’s their phone number? Maybe a few calls will get them to change their minds.
I’m struggling to remember if mine had them in the ‘70s and ‘80s... if only because we were gone for the 2 1/2 weeks during that period.
There may be no need to make a big issue out of this. Just TALK to the woman and explain why it's important to you.
That way, you can say you tried the most obvious solution, and if necessary you can show she was unreasonable even after a one-on-one personal appeal.
Call a student strike and keep ALL your kids at home until they give in, or shut down.
Any ONE person that would do this to an entire community is already beyond reason. Some people are jst not rational when it comes to things like this.
Is this person Jewish, atheist, muslim?
If I knew that, I could maybe offer something more.
Does the school allow Halloween decorations? If so, they should allow Christmas decorations. Many people who aren’t Christian enjoy Christmas trees. No one is making this person put one up in her home.
Would you allow Charles Manson to teach your children?
Change schools ASAP!
There is no upside to keeping your kids in a government school run by a bunch of perverted communists from the teachers union.
I hate all this political correctness crap, but call it the holiday tree (officially) and you’re in business. This might skirt any religious/legal issues.. On campus, the kids can call it “Christmas” tree all they want. One thing is for sure, the ACLU will do all they can to thwart celebrating Christmas. By the way, does this school have foot baths for the Muslim kids yet?
Something to consider.
If true, withdraw the child, and home school, if they give you grief; advise them that they imposed a separation of religion and state not providing your children an equal opportunity education imposing a preferred government preference without representation, harming your child, contact an independent school to attend. Once, in place ask government to provide equal opportunity access for same services that do not impose government preference.
Seems like the ONE teacher might be practicing discrimination.
Just watched a Lowes commercial and the characters in the ad mentioned “Christmas”. “Christmas” also appeared in the background of a store camera shot.
Buy your kid several sweaters with Christmas trees on them and make them wear it to school, talk with other parents and have them do the same.
If they start complaining about that, switch to shirts with Nativity scenes on them.
Hmmmmmmm...ONE teacher said it bothered her. Is she a grown-up? Perhaps all the other teachers could complain that being without the tree bothers THEM. Majority wins.
But the NEA Union member that was offended will take the two weeks off with pay.
Hypocrite.
If it were me, I would contact the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ). It is the organization founded by Pat Robertson to counteract the mischief perpetrated by the ACLU.
