I agree. Plasma’s are very delicate and easily damaged.

nowadays plasma is pretty much on the way out. It sucks an enormous amount of juice and tends to burn-in

not so much anymore... Panasonic Plasma 50” from Costco delivered for $1000 is awesome for sports and side room viewing, and not longer prone to any burnin...automated feature and Viera allows for multiple components to all interact. PC connection on a 50” is a sight to behold!

ymmv

What I really don’t like is to visit someone who won’t turn off their TV.

I mean... if I wanted to watch TV, I would have stayed at home-wathced what I wanted and made myself REAL comfortable instead of driving over to your house to watch ‘whatever’ and sit on your lumpy sofa while you look at the TV without looking at me while we talk.

It is the height of bad form to leave the TV on with guests!!

Television will make you crazy, get a constructive hobby!

Wouldn't you be embarrassed if a stranger came in and caught you watching that crap?

I can second the recommendation for Samsung. I bought a 46” LCD 1080p a year ago and love it. I was able to compare Samsung to other brands running at the same time and the picture on the Samsung was a lot better. You will probably want to add a home theater system so I will not comment on speakers.

Make sure it is a 1080P and has plenty of HDMI inputs and a PC VGA connector.

My new Sony (6 months old) just blew the motherboard. Replaced with new one (warranty). Speakers are 4 ohm terrible. I love my Samsung. I would also buy LG, super.

If you can afford the extra bucks the BEST TVs out there are LEDs. Next would be LCD but if price is your point then go plasma most bang for the buck ( upfront long term not so much)

Go to Fry’s or Costco or Best Buy, or even Walmart. take a look at them side by side and see which one you like the looks of. Your vision and how you respond to the cooler or warmer tones are all that’s really important. Most LCD manufactres actually buy the display from one of two manufactures and then they add electronics and bezels and other bells and whistles.

I like Mitsuibishi and Toshiba but that’s just me (I like the way Sony looks but I won’t pay the extra money for it)

Make love with your spouse.

Did that this morning.

Read to your kids.

My kids are rotten.

Paint the porch.

It covered in vinyl siding

Change your oil.

Did that last week. 12 vehicles

Cut your elderly neighbor’s grass.

What? She has 290 acres!

Ask your pastor what needs to be done.

We are not on very good terms right now since that stripper pole incident.

Stop in to check on your out of work neighbor.

Don't have any. The only neighbor I have thats out of work is the pot-smoking grandson of the elderly lady above. He ain't no 'count.

Meet with your neighbors about upcoming elections. etc . . ..

My neighbors are horses and cows.

I have a better list. It involves some type of tool in one hand and a cold beer in the other. The tool can be replaced with a grill utensil but the beer must remain. Anything is better than being hypnotized in front of a TV. But when I do watch, I watch in style on a 52inch plazma.

Absolutely loved my Samsung when I first got it.

After two years, needed a part. Part not available. National back order. Down three weeks. Now, two years later. Down again. Part no longer made. Discontinued. Samsung support says, "Sorry. Maybe you can find used set to cannibalize on internet."

No Samsung EVER for me.

Anybody want a 61" boat anchor? The POS is in my garage.

Sony Bravia LCD has been working great for us....can't beat the picture clarity.

Our 32" (plenty big for our small TV area) probably weight under 10 pounds.

Oh, and don’t forget to figure into the budget the $200 for the cords to get 1080P.

Wife's TV went out.

Seriously, you don't REALLY have his/her TV's do you?

Please tell me that you're just joking.

Were you invited? Or did you just show up to interfere with his TV viewing?
