Thanksgiving Day Dinner

We have our family gathered here,
To talk about another year,
Of children’s teeth and strength of limb,
And who gave birth to another him.

The table almost makes a sound,
As yet more burden is inbound,
A noble bird makes its last flight,
And joins us for a feast tonight.

With mashed potatoes, candied yams,
Peas and corn, and sugared hams,
Cranberry sauce to please the eye,
And don’t forget the pumpkin pie.

A bowl of gravy, steaming hot,
And Grandmom’s soup in the old stewpot,
Some buttered rolls and special bread,
But not a bite ‘til Grace is said.

Before you help to pass the bowls,
The One Who helped you reach your goals,
Is listening for your voices clear,
To give Him thanks is why we’re here.

Please just be patient for a mite,
And hold in check your appetite,
The Lord will get His just desserts,
With each strong voice that Love asserts.

I do an easy Thanksgiving dinner. My menu is not very extensive.

Turkey with dressing, ham, mashed potatoes with gravy; yams, green bean casserole and fruit salad. Hubby is going to cook some carrots. I bought frozen pies this year. I usually get pies from either Costco or Marie Calendar.

We usually spend three days at the coast for our anniversary. My friend says we’re the only one she knows who takes their family on a vacation for their anniversary. LOL

It was 52 years on the 16th. We wait until school is on Thanksgiving break to do anything. It has become a tradition. :)

Thanksgiving Prayer

Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day
We bow our hearts to You and pray.
We give You thanks for all You've done
Especially for the gift of Jesus, Your Son.
For beauty in nature, Your glory we see
For joy and health, friends and family,
For daily provision, Your mercy and care
These are the blessings You graciously share.
So today we offer this response of praise
With a promise to follow You all of our days.
