Her senior year was just a month old at Newfield High School in Selden when Tiana Rapp, 17, opened her gym locker and discovered someone had pilfered a whopping $150 from it.
Police have arrested a hall monitor, Linda Cubano, and charged her with three counts of petty larceny in connection with the thefts.
Rapp said she had reported the missing money to school officials, who suspected a student was responsible. But something didn't add up, she said, because the girls' lockers were patrolled by an adult hall monitor.
The criminal struck again a couple of weeks later: That time, Rapp was left $40 poorer...

I dont think the video proves in a court of law that she was responsible for every other theft, including the $150. Thats why there will be no prosecution. REALLY SMART crime work would have been to risk leaving more than $100 in the locker again in order to get pictures AND a felony conviction. After reading the linked story, it looks like the cops got a confession. Cubano was on video stealing $40 while on duty as the hall monitor, using a master key to commit the theft. She was on duty as hall monitor, with the master key in her pocket, when the other thefts occurred; and it was her job to be vigilant and prevent these thefts. Finally, I presume there was never any sign of forced entry into these lockers. With this set of facts ...

When I was 14 I cut cords of wood and was making $200 to $300 per week. I just carried around money all the time.
No reason at all and I still do and now it’s more. Still no reason.

Yep - a couple of weeks ago I called in the po-lice due to mailbox theft in the area (found my outbound mail in the street a half block away)....there was somebody's mortgage payment coupon in an opened envelope, indicating a check for around a thousand bucks.
The cop saw that and had to write up the report as Grand Theft, not just vandalism or mail theft.

The snoops are pretty much Not Guilty on all charges.

Why are highschoolers carrying around $40, much less $150. It's 'sell crummy merchandise' to your family and friends to buy new fans for the gym... or some such shakedown... the kids win worthless prizes and the school system gets to pay janitors union scale...
