Oh, like nobody knew Windows 7 was coming. Like Apple didn’t have the public beta of it for a year.

Actually Woz was always the innovator, Jobs knows how to sell it, Bill’s skill is in being absolutely cutthroat.

You are correct about Woz ... Steve has been the stickler for the clean, sleek industrial design which is a big selling point for me too.

I love how PC users think only Jobs is a Liberal. :)

"...touch is connected to the screen and not anything else."

LOL!!! I haven't used a mouse in years, because the trackpads on my Macs work so well to my touch! I even create complex vector and bitmap graphics -- using only my touch. And, now that my Macbook Pro has the same multi-touch as the iPhone, I spend most of my time leaned back, with only one hand resting on the Mac's touchpad.

And that is why Windows will never catch up with Mac -- Apple is the master of the human interface -- and Microsoft is like Kerry:

How Microsoft blindsided vulnerable Apple with Windows 7

Where's the BARF ALERT on this article? Microsoft blindsided Apple with Windows 7?

they sit stunned that Windows 7 is doing so well and they are left looking foolish with products priced out of the segment

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! *wipes tear from eye* You've got to be kidding me. Oh well thanks for the laugh.

I first used a mac in 1979

Not likely. It was probably an Apple ][. You needed to swap in about six floppies to get a Pascal compile done.

"I’m in the market for a new MacBook Pro..."

Gonna replace your "new" machine? Why? My wife loves your "old" 15" PowerBook G4 -- that I got from you back in twenty-ought-X... '-)

Go for that new Macbook Pro -- you will really like it (and you can't have mine!) LOL!!!

The latest Apple TV ad is so foolish it is down right INSULTING and demeaning. Windows 7 is an outstanding OS and for Apple to infer that it will have massive problems like ...Window XP? HUH? What are they drinking over at the Apple ad agency? Yes, Vista was a disaster... but Windows XP wasn't, sure it had service packs but the OS is rock solid (still running it on tons of equipment) and Windows 7 certainly isn't.

Apple needs to get their heads out of the sand and instead of merely calling names and making LAME claims that are no longer true and insulting PC users (great way to get new business... NOT) they need to PRODUCE A BETTER PRODUCT/OS or shut the heck up. Windows 7 is here to stay and it is going to clean their collective clocks. Especially with the new I7 chip and the new AMD killer video processor that just came out.

OK, first things first:

Even tho I am a Macaddict (meetings are monthly), I try to be fair. I try to read what the Dark Side has to say in their defense. So, note to the Dark Side: Make your screeds readable! Pay for an editor, as obviously Word is not a dependable product for assuring an easy read for your audience.

If you’re a member of the Dark Side, what this means is this: The writing in this article is so bad I can’t read it!!!!!

Maybe you should consider asking this writer to join your group of hackers & whackers. He has obvious talent in your art form.

My question for you is; How is it that you idolize and revere a company that contributes vast amounts of money and energy into ultra Liberal/Marxist agendas?

Maybe because we just like computers that WORK! That we don't have to replace every 2 years cos they are so bloated with spyware and viri that we think they're broken. Maybe we're smarter than that. Yeah, I'm going with that.

The politics of the company that made my computer matters not a whit to me when it's 4 o'clock and my 10 page paper is due at 5. All that matters to me is that my computer will produce what I want, when I want, without having to call some IT geek to fix it for me.

Windows NT

Vista = NT 6.0

Win 7= NT 6.1

Windows 7 is a maintenance release of Vista.

Hope and Change !

Can I use it safely online without any anti-virus or anti-malware software like I do with my Mac?

I wouldn't call it "blindsided."

However, Windows 7 seems a good product, and it will be running on machines that most people can afford. Apple made a big mistake not taking advantage of the Vista debacle.

But if ten percent's all you need and ten percent's all you want, then ten percent it is.

"I learned (from apple) in 1979 that a keyboard for data entry is way better than punched cards... "

Really? How did you put the holes in your cards? One at a time -- with a hammer and hand punch? ;-)

...that touch is connected to the screen and not anything else...

Well, the mouse IS the control for the screen and acts as a proxy thereof. This Enderle yo-yo probably didn't have any problems with the scroll wheels, multiple and proliferating buttons, and other steam-whistles and flashing LED lights that have proliferated on PC mice. And while on the subject of PC mice, I want to observe that I have never used a well functioning PC mouse. They are invariably erratic, jerky, clumsy and frustrating to use. Instead of building a gothic mouse, maybe someone ought to have concentrated on one that actually works smoothly.
