Hard to believe, but Friday marks the 50th anniversary of “The Twilight Zone,” the twisty-turny, highly influential science-fiction anthology series. (Or does it? No, wait, it does.)

(1) The one about the tie salesman who makes a deal with Death. Then he needs to make the biggest sale of his life to save the life of the child chosen in his place.
And, (2) the one about the neighborhood where the lights go out, and rumors spread about alien invaders. Only one neighbor’s lights are on, and the others suspect him and finally turn on him and each other. In the distance, we see at the end that the aliens are playing with the electricity - that’s all they have to do to conquer us - just sit back and watch people turn on each other.
There were some “Outer Limits” episodes that were also very good.
Was the one where the dept store mannequin goes on holiday from the 13th floor a Twilight Zone? She thought she was a regular person looking for an item to purchase and was taken to the 13th floor so the next mannequin could go on vacation.
I can’t find the pictures, but to me the people in “The eye of the beholder,” except for the “normal-looking” ones all look like Henry Waxman.

FYI: You can watch many classic episodes of the Twilight Zone free online at this CBS link below. Unfortunately, they do not have this one with William Shatner available ('Nightmare at 20,000 Feet'), because it was from season 5 and they only have vids for the first 3.

‘The Twilight Zone’ Turns 50: What’s Your Favorite Episode?
Anyone catch the episode where a damn communist became President of the United States, and proceeded to destroy everything that is great about the Republic?
Another good one was the one where a young Robert Redford played “Mr. Death”. An old woman lived a paranoid existence because she was scared that “Mr. Death” would find her and she’d die. A young man (Redford) is attacked outside her basement hovel, and is pleading with her to help him. After trying to ignore him, she finaly helps him in. As she tends to his wounds, she tells him of her fear. Finally, he reveals that he is “Mr. Death”, and she’s scared. But finally, reluctantly, and after much convincing, she takes his hand...to find that dying wasn’t so bad after all. The story ends with them walking arm in arm out of the apartment, talking like old friends, with her corpse laying on her bed.
To Serve Man is one of my faves. But I recently saw “The Exhibit” which is great. They are still on the SciFy channel (I have my dvr set to record them).
I’m still waiting for Serling to step in and stop the story.

"The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street." They actually showed that episode to my seventh grade son's social studies class as a cautionary tale about prejudice.

Same here. I don't remember the titles of the shows. I see one I described has been mentioned by others as "Eye of the Beholder". What a great series.
I liked that one too only it was his Son, not his wife who was sick.
Telly Savalas was a great actor! Yeah, he was in a lot of cheesy flicks and did a lot of really bad crap, but that is classic. Imagine Tom Cruise or Ben Affleck trying to pull that off.

I used to watch Twilight Zone, and Outer Limits, with my older brother. That sort of thing never bothered me in the least, but he was a little squeamish about some of it. Since I was of purer character than you (you little devil), I didn’t scare the crap out of him — although I could have — but I did laugh at him. A lot.
Now the tables are turned. He’s fairly immune to that sort of thing, and now *I* prefer not to watch it! Go figure.
Does anybody remember this or am I just dreaming? Or maybe it wasn't Twilight Zone, but I'm pretty sure it was.
