Lets face it, none of the candidates are perfect. They never are. But McCain is the least perfect of the viable candidates. The only one left standing who can honestly be said to share most of our conservative principles is Mitt Romney. I say this as someone who has not been an active Romney supporter. If conservatives dont unite behind Romney at this stage, and become vocal in their support for him, then they will get McCain as their Republican nominee and probably a Democrat president.

This "board" isn't for Republicans. It is for conservatives. We don't make excuses for Republicans who aren't conservative. We don't carry water for liberals with a magic R next to their names. We support conservatives. Most here decry the liberalism overtaking the Republican party at the moment.
This is a conservative forum. The first hint is about an inch from the top on the home page, which says:
Free Republic (^) is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.
Conservative ≠ Republican.
Conservative > Republican.
Again: This is not a Republican forum, and that's most why conservatives don't support some Republicans.
Mitt Romney, for example, is not conservative. He's a gormless git who was, sadly, born without a spine.
Scheunemann was the one person on the McCain team that didn’t cut her off at the knees and he was fired because he refused to be a McCain team player when they decided to make her the scapegoat, so it is completely understandable that she would decide she could trust him... Frum has done nothing but trash her, so her being on the same letter with him is nothing more than her willingness to support the war in Afghanistan and join in urging the president to get off his duff and do something... and IMHO your constant posts trashing Republicans is no better than Levin going off on every thing Beck does... there is a difference between “vetting” and constant trashing.
Chunga apparently lives in an alternate universe, wildly so to explain his perception of "this board."
Mountainbunny gets stand-on-my-chair whistling-and-clapping cheers for:

I believe that to win the votes and confidence of everyday Americans, the GOP and Republican party should stand for one very strong concept: Get government out of our hair. Put it back in the servants' quarters where it belongs.
Propose it in politically mixed company. It resonates with just about everyone, including your garden variety mainstraim American Democrat who votes Democrat because it's cool and Republicans are just un-cool, but doesn't give it much more thought than that. This resonates with those types in a positive way. Those with whom it doesn't resonate are put on the defensive; they feel intimidated to speak out, and that's a good thing. Finally, the shoe is on the other foot.
As for recognizing a candidate that will do his job in terms of fighting to get government out of our hair, that's up to we Republicans, and that is why I REJECT Romney and Whitman and Schwarzenegger and any other Republican who maintains or expands government, even if he/she does it more "efficiently" or "leaner." You get the Magic R types saying, "I'll make a leaner government." No, what we need is LESS government. A leaner government would just be more businesslike and efficieint at repressing freedom.
LESS government. American voters everywhere are yearning, begging, to have a chance to vote for that.
Politicians R or D who run on more government in our hair, more government authority over our choices, either lose (Republicans) or have to cheat to win (Democrats).
GOP ESTABLISHMENT ELITE, GET OUT OF THE WAY. You're screwing America.
Would all you folks cut this crap out? hey n00b, quit trying to stir up trouble. This crap is old. This article is old.
Most of are quite fine with the fact there is room for Levin and Beck.
So go away.
tahts true, I wouldn’t discount the possibility or marxist wanting to extent their power. They’ll try to excuse it by saying for national security or due to popular demand, we’ll ignore the 2 term restriction for president and he’ll run again
Here’s my litmus:
1. Do you unconditionally support my RIGHT to own, carry, and use if necessary firearms, in accordance with the US Constitution and individual State Constitutions, YES or NO? And that INCLUDES ugly black plastic rifles - whatever the Hell I choose to own.
If “Yes, I support the 2nd Amendment , BUT” comes out of their mouth, their FINISHED with me. You either UNDERSTAND THAT I’M A FREE MAN, or you don’t. If a politician can’t understand that basic human right of liberty, then hey, pound sand, eat sh*t and die. I’ll NEVER vote for someone who doesn’t trust me with my own liberty and life.
2. Do you support the RIGHT of the unborn to be born and NOT murdered in the womb, YES or NO?
If “Yes but,” - they’re done. Finished. NO ONE deserves to be murdered - ESPECIALLY those so patently helpless and defenseless. Anyone who advocates it is a monster on par with Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Lenin (well, maybe THOSE guys deserved to be murdered after all). We’re letting entire generations of AMericans be wiped out so the parasites and leeches of other societies can dance across our borders, invade, and overrun us - and LAUGH in our faces while they use the law against us and drain our treasury with the help of their communist buddies in the Democrat party and spineless, cowardly “compassionate” RINOs.
3. Do you unconditionally support the Republican form of representational Government GUARANTEED to EACH STATE in the Union by the Constitution by Article IV? YES or NO.
We are NOT a democracy, and never were - the Founders deliberately avoided democracy, knowing full-well that we would get to EXACTLY where we are now by unscrupulous enemies from within. They were right.
So at the end of the day - if a candidate can’t get behind and fathom the basic understanding of how many, many Americans are feeling right now - pushed, coerced, backed against the wall - and make an honest, determined effort to reverse that very real situation,
...if a candidate can’t get behind the basic understanding of BEING an American and the exceptionalism, as Rush puts it, that it took to get us HERE after 230 odd years and centuries of oppression, dictators, tyrants, and murderous regimes...
...if a candidate can’t uphold, protect, and defend the US Constitution, the country, and our people, as they are SWORN and required to do, without compromising, weakening, or destroying our soveriegnty and our very nation...ESPECIALLY in front of a useless enemy, subversive collective like the UN...
..well, THEY and THEY alone are responsible for what happens in this country afterwards.
Not us.
It’s too late in the game for traitors and cowards. Either stand the f*** up or move out of the way. If the Dems succeed in their little subversion, it will be BECAUSE of the RINOs.
I’ll have no part of that.
/rant
Wow.
Your questions are succinct and get right to the point.
These would devastate many candidates who want to prevaricate, outright lie, or hem and haw.
Excellent.
I’m with you FRiend. I am Four Square in supporting everything you’ve stated.
Now having said that, do you support the concept of repealing any and all federal firearms regulation which restrict the ownership of FULLY AUTOMATIC weapons, i.e., machine guns?
Yeah that Mcpain thing we did the lesser than vote for last time worked out so well due the GOP’s game plan / recipe for success !
Don’t argue with the Twitt’s just find a polidiot with a VALID record of conservative votes and vote for ....her !
........:o)
Not one bank robbed or parade shot up to date...
Punishment should be for the crime not what tool the fool used in the commission of said crime
My opinion...
I concur and agree with you 100 percent.
Romney was the least Liberal of the bunch which isn’t a Conservative endorsement. A Mormon George Bush at best. You can blame Urkel on one George W Bush. Refused to cut spending, refused to veto Campaign Finance Reform thus elevating McLoser, refused to dis the ‘Rats, and the final straw was signing the first bailout. Bush drove the party as far left as it will ever be. Conservates are rightly making a tactical retreat. RINO’s are caught in the crossfire. The RINO purge is on.
LOL, everyone knows that Rabs single handedly got Obama elected, well maybe a few others here that did not like McCain helped too.
I am with Rabs. No more loser republicans. Till we get some republicans worth a crap, it would be best to have republicans in the bare minority, maybe representing 49% of congress, and out of White House so they are motivated to obstruct like now and dems get the blame.
I think you two really like each other , secretly LOL.
That is just it, Sarah Palin is not a “loser” Republican and he should have take a little time to do some thinking and research before running off half-cocked again.
>In the short run, McCain and Romney would have been less disruptive ... but in their potential, and the potential of any big government "moderate" Republican for long-term damage to the future hope for America, they pose a bigger danger than Obama. THEY are the problem, and clothespin-voting is why they're the problem. I have done enough clothes-pin voting now to have finally figured out that it is engaging in Einstein's definition of insanity.
>I will apply what I've learned and when Romney zealots focus on getting big-government politicians in office, I will VOTE AGAINST THEM. And I will be joined by millions of Republicans and conservatives who want a party that stands for GETTING GOVERNMENT OUT OF OUR HAIR. Romney is demonstrably a proponent of bigger government and more government authority over our lives. He deserves to be rejected. He is a loser for the GOP, and he represents WHY the GOP is so weak that few are rallying behind it as it stands now.
>Almost all the active politicians are laying low, though, staying under the radar, waiting to see which way the battle goes before picking a side. Romney is one of those. I have no use for any of them.
>For those "conservative" media elites that insist on pushing Romney on us--a pox on you. You are going to end up dividing the party just when we need to unite.
>of course they'll accuse us of throwing the election because they're too fearful to come to terms with the fact that the GOP is one seriously out of touch and disillusioned group... evidenced by the way they're lining up behind Romney. If they do this, they're doing the equivalent of signing their own political death warrant... because we won't support them...no matter what... and no amount of bitching, crying, and whining by those who do support them will sway us this time.
>I REJECT Romney and Whitman and Schwarzenegger and any other Republican who maintains or expands government, even if he/she does it more "efficiently" or "leaner." >The message to Republicans of ALL persuasions should be clear: if you are not conservative, if you are playing 'Let's Make A Deal' with the 'Rats, if you 'go along to get along', then you are NOT a Republican, you have no business IN the Republican Party, and you need to GET OUT NOW!!!
>Conservates are rightly making a tactical retreat. RINOs are caught in the crossfire. The RINO purge is on.
I LOVE THIS THREAD.
LET'S ROLL!!!
Rabs is such a trouble maker here LOL. Can we censure him?
Ahhh, the Caribou Barbie. I honestly don't know what to make of her. My problem is with the Palin worshipers who act like they think she is a conservative messiah sent by God (they used to think GWB was back 6 or so years ago) . In August many posters here claimed Palin single handedly destroyed the health care reform. (I mean single handedly!!) This is delusional.
As far as Palin resigning from Alaska, that should wake up anyone who was dreaming of a Palin presidential victory in 2012 short some dramatic change in her resume.
How about this one? Palin gets the nomination in 2012, Obama beats her in a landslide. Economy collapses with the dollar collapsing and the great depression looks like good times. 2016 election everyone blames Obama, democrats and socialism. YES! Ok, not a happy scenario but what could be worse than 2008??.
The only person who excites the base is Palin... and she gave a great speech today in Hong Kong, for those who still equate her to the Tina Fey impression.
