Mountainbunny gets stand-on-my-chair whistling-and-clapping cheers for:
This "board" isn't for Republicans. It is for conservatives. We don't make excuses for Republicans who aren't conservative. We don't carry water for liberals with a magic R next to their names.
I believe that to win the votes and confidence of everyday Americans, the GOP and Republican party should stand for one very strong concept: Get government out of our hair. Put it back in the servants' quarters where it belongs.
Propose it in politically mixed company. It resonates with just about everyone, including your garden variety mainstraim American Democrat who votes Democrat because it's cool and Republicans are just un-cool, but doesn't give it much more thought than that. This resonates with those types in a positive way. Those with whom it doesn't resonate are put on the defensive; they feel intimidated to speak out, and that's a good thing. Finally, the shoe is on the other foot.
As for recognizing a candidate that will do his job in terms of fighting to get government out of our hair, that's up to we Republicans, and that is why I REJECT Romney and Whitman and Schwarzenegger and any other Republican who maintains or expands government, even if he/she does it more "efficiently" or "leaner." You get the Magic R types saying, "I'll make a leaner government." No, what we need is LESS government. A leaner government would just be more businesslike and efficieint at repressing freedom.
LESS government. American voters everywhere are yearning, begging, to have a chance to vote for that.
Politicians R or D who run on more government in our hair, more government authority over our choices, either lose (Republicans) or have to cheat to win (Democrats).
GOP ESTABLISHMENT ELITE, GET OUT OF THE WAY. You're screwing America.

Amen to everything you've said, ditto for MountainBunny. Chunga is just a symptom of the disease afflicting the GOP, because we have never seen a third party come close to truly affecting an election (with the exception of the American Independent Party in '68 with George Wallace & General Curtis LeMay, and that damn Ross Perot and his 'giant sucking sound' who delivered the White House to the Clintonistas in '92), people like Chunga believe there is no choice except to 'vote Republican' and there is no difference between that philosophy and the idea that if (for example) you buy an electronics product today with the label 'RCA', that you're still buying an American-made product, get a clue: that product is made in Communist China like so many other products that USED to be proudly stamped 'Made in the USA'.
Just like those cheap products hiding behind a once proud name, far too many 'Republicans' (both elected and those who vote for the (R) label) are indeed RINOs, they fail to understand that the Democrat Party is driving America into a socialist/Communist state at 100 mph, while the Republican Party is driving in the same direction, but observing a more 'reasonable' speed limit of 55 mph.
No matter who is behind the political wheel, America is headed for it's demise unless true conservatives come together with resolve and determination to rid the GOP of the RINO virus, clean out the Party at all levels from top to bottom, and get 'Back to the Future' of Reagan Republicanism, which was and remains the best hope of putting the skids on the national suicide that describes today's Communist Party that CALLS itself the 'Democrat Party'.
The message to Republicans of ALL persuasions should be clear: if you are not conservative, if you are playing 'Let's Make A Deal' with the 'Rats, if you 'go along to get along', then you are NOT a Republican, you have no business IN the Republican Party, and you need to
GET OUT NOW!!!
