Furious Serena Williams dumped out of U.S. Open after she told an official: 'If I could, I'd ...

This was the dramatic moment when Serena Williams screamed her way out of the U.S. Open.

TV viewers around the world saw the irate Wimbledon champion launch a threatening, profanity-laced tirade at a female line judge after being called for a foot fault.

'If I could, I would take this f****** ball and shove it down your f****** throat,' she reportedly said.

The diminutive lineswoman reported her words to the umpire, who called in the tournament referee at Flushing Meadows in New York.

With the crowd booing, Miss Williams could be heard on the court microphone pleading with the lineswoman, saying: 'I didn't say I would kill you. Are you serious? I didn't say that.'

But her extraordinary outburst meant she was docked a point on match point, handing a semi-final victory to bemused Belgian opponent Kim Clijsters in one of the ugliest-ever endings to a major sports match.

Miss Williams had already received a warning for smashing a racquet, so the next sanction was a penalty point for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Not since John McEnroe was defaulted in the Australian Open in 1990 for swearing at the umpire has a top player made such an ignominious exit from such a high-profile match.

It happened when, with the 27-year-old American serving at 5-6 and 15-30 in the second set, she faulted on her first serve.

On her second serve, the line judge declared a foot fault, a call rarely, if ever, seen at that stage of a match.

That made the score 15-40, putting Miss Clijsters one point from a place in the final.

Miss Williams stormed over to the line judge, cursing and shaking her racquet, pointing at her and thrusting a ball in her face.

It seems that these days the women are bigger offenders than the men. It debases all of us to have such coarseness in our culture.

I'm on Serena's side on this one. The line judge made made a bad call. So, keep in mind this incident would never have happened if she (line judge)had not screwed up. Also, while I did not watch every match played, it appears to me that Serena has been singled out on this particular call as I don't recall it being made against anyone else. Lastly, Serena is an American and it really grates on me the way the audience was cheering for Clijsters who by the way is Belgian. Nothing against Kim, probably a real nice persona and all that. I just believe in pulling for America and Americans. Btw, where's The Reverend Jackson and Al Sharpton when we need them? I catch a whiff of racism in this....

All the idiot had to do was question the call and have it shown on instant replay. She is allowed to do that. No matter what, she is not in the right here, she definitely lost it, it doesn't matter what was called on her. She was already losing and would have lost anyway, the other girl was out playing her.Not to mention she already had one strike against her earlier in the game when she smashed her racket on the court because she was losing. Had she not done that, she wouldn't have lost the point on the screaming fit. To say this type of behavior is justified is just wrong.

Obama's wife is ridiculed because of the media trying to make her into some type of fashion queen and because the people on FR know what type of person she really is. They don't ridicule her looks so much as the clothes she wears and the media oohs and ahhs over, when they obviously look like sh**. Did the media keep their mouths shut about it or at least tone down the BS about 30 db she wouldn't be ridiculed quite so often. However, she and Bozo have shown a decided lack of grace and style when in public, showing no respect at all for the highest office in the land. Want respect? Earn it first.

As for Serena, yes she is good looking if you like big women, she isn't fat, just big. That doesn't excuse her terrible actions which were in contrast to her looks and extremely ugly. Even McEnroe never used words like that on his worst temper tantrum.

Soup,
What planet are you living on? I think people don't like Michelle Obama because a lot of the things she has said. That translates over to some criticism about her looks. Women will always be tough on other women. Michelle is not a glamorous woman but the Lamestream Media is trying to portray her as such. They want a black Camelot. They are trying their best to elevate her image.

The truth about Michelle Obama is that she is another affirmative action black with a large chip on her shoulder. She never would have got within shouting distance of Princeton or Harvard without affirmative action in the extreme. Or what about that 200K job on the hospital board. Heck she probably had to go to maybe a dozen meetings a years for that hunk of change. People on this site are knowledgeable about these things. The people here are not sheeple like those who watch mainstream media.

In my business, I have mentored 3 AA women and helped them with advice, encouragement, etc. I remain friends with 2 of the three; I lost contact with the third after she made remarks about Jews to me that were unbelievable.

And these three women were not some sad cases that needed my help...so don't get me wrong. In one case I helped a writer overcome (what I thought) was prejudice in the workplace, and argued for a promotion for her; in another, I encouraged her to become a writer (she had undervalued her talent).

These were all accomplished young women that--had they been white, I believe--would have advanced more easily. All I did was help them a bit. So please do not think me prejudiced...if you knew how I brought up my kids you would not say that.

Asians often hate blacks, sometimes for good reasons. After watching a little female Asian MD degrade and hurt my black daughter purposefully, I am not sure what is going on.

I've witnessed the tension myself. More than tension, actually, in a neighborhood where I used to live. But, IMHO, this story is just about an athlete losing her temper, and she took it too far. I think many people here and on the rest of the internet are reading far too much into it. (And some of the comments on this forum are over the top, imho.)

What did the doctor do and say to your daughter? I wouldn't blame you for not wanting to give more details, but sometimes there are doctors who have an attitude with everyone. I've encountered more than a few myself.

>>so would I be correct?

LOL! look at a map, is India in Asia?

Just cultural conditioning, in America Asians are Orientals only.

However, from Iraq to Japan is Asia!

People dont like Michelle Obama for lots of reasons, but to attack her on her looks and shape goes over the fence with me. She is an attractive woman and there are lots of things to slam her on, slamming her on her looks is petty and untrue.

Well that experience certainly justifies threatening to stick a f*ck*ng ball down the ump’s f*ck*ing throat.

Your honor, I rest my case.

You are out of line, all I said is that there is animosity between blacks and Asians. I didnt say it was right, I didnt say what she did was right. I just said that there may be more to the story than what was on the surface.

Jerk.

"I don't know whether she actually said the words or not, but this is the first time I have ever seen her and she is a beautiful woman, and I think that the judge who went to the ref was Asian."

First of all there is video and audio as well as quotes galore from people who witnessed the outburst. Second, what has her (in your opinion) being "beautiful" got to do with anything? You mention the line judge being Asian as a reason for calling an infraction? You claim "Asians dislike blacks"? Really? Quite a blanket statement here. You of course have documented evidense showing some wide spread dislike of blacks by Asians? Funny, but you sound EXACTLY like the rest of those who always assign racial motivation and pull the race card whenever a black gets nailed for screwing up. Maybe you'ld better check on those 2 who got all that juicy film showing the criminal behavior of ACORN. If you look far enough into their backround you may find they have Asian blood in them or (GASP!) even white blood.

No, I don’t think there is any film supporting my contention as film is no longer used. The incident has been digitally recorded though....
