"The Department has determined that quarantine in your home and other less restrictive alternatives are not acceptable," the document continues, before listing mandatory provisions of compliance with relocation to a quarantine facility.

The 1918 flu initially spread through the US through military camps and their refusal to think any way but the at-the-time established methods were the best way of dealing with things. (I’m not saying that the military was alone in not dealing with the outbreak of the flu in the best possible way, just that they were one institution amongst many that did so at the time). The methods in place now are a direct result of observations of flu outbreaks since then and including the 1918 Spanish Flu that killed 50 to 100 million people worldwide.
Don’t be so sure that just because you dislike the current administration, that everything happening in the world is directly due to how bad you think they are.
Taking them to a hospital would be one thing, but putting them in a camp is another. I guess we should be more vigillant as to what the bureaucrats write.
As for keeping them busy, if there isn't enough for them to do, then there should be fewer of them.
If someone has an infectious and deadly disease, they just might not feel like running down to the mall to go shopping. Unless, of course, they are part of a protected group...
Idaho is home to large population of reclusive survivalists. Idaho hasn’t a hope to quarantine them, without comitting thousands of seachers to find them.
Australia is in the middle of a H1N1 epidemic. I wonder if they quarantine?

Hotel rooms. Think about that. Your home is contaminated, after all you were sick there. Then take you to a motel and contmainate that. No town I live anywhere near has enough motel beds to accomodate the population, but it has enough homes (funny thing, that). When the motels are full, then what? “overflow facillities”: Camps.
Remove your clothes, pick up that rock shaped like a bar of soap and step into this chamber for your ‘shower.’

If swine influenza spreads in the community, it will have severe public health consequences. Your illness requires that you be isolated and requires further public health investigation and monitoring.

If you fail to comply with this ISOLATION ORDER, you will be subject to prosecution pursuant to NCGS 130A-25, which provides for imprisonment for up to two (2) years, as well as pretrial detention without bail under NCGS 15A-534.5.
The staff of this Health Department is available to provide assistance and counseling to you concerning your swine influenza infection and compliance with this ISOLATION ORDER.
The authority of this ISOLATION ORDER to restrict your freedom of movement expires in 30 days from the date of this order unless extended or modified by a court pursuant to NCGS 130A-145.
