Thank God for satellite TV and Netflix. I remember when the JFK story was all that could be seen for days and days....
Seriously.
The only time I have time for TV is when my day is done. Thats usually 30 minutes before bedtime.
Thats when I am through. I am finished with everything, the doors are locked and I am pretty much done with my day and half way to sleepytown.
Then I only watch shows on cable like Mythbusters or Monster Garage or Deadliest Catch. I can’t stand shows that have queers and metro female men. (which is 90% of shows on TV)
Got that one from Netflix last month.
Very good. Nice twist at the end, too.
I'm pretty much limited to closed captioning and I prefer to watch from the comfort of a recliner rather than at my computer desk.
I saw “Everything is Illuminated” on one of my satellite channels a while back...excellent movie.
It’s one of those rare movies I watched twice before sending it back.
It’s charming, smart, very funny, moving and thoughtful. And the cinematography is brilliant.
I scolded my wife the other day because she was hypnotized in front of the TV for hours. She said she was tired.
I said “You’re not sitting on the couch watching TV because you’re tired. You’re tired because you’re sitting on the couch watching TV.”
My buddy’s grass is knee-high. He says he can never find time to cut it. He watches TV from the time he gets home until bedtime... nonstop.
I don’t understand it.
Any serious Freeper has a recliner in front of his computer. LOL.. also if you use firefox and have the add on "Downloadhelper" you can copy any video on YouTube to video.
Like I said, there is many videos (more than a lifetime probable) worth viewing for free now on Youtube. Example in this thread is Sophie Scholl: The Final Days..

Notice it has English Subtitles.
Sorry ma’am... didn’t mean to offend.
I guess at your point in life you can understand where I’m coming from. Able-bodied young people that can do anything they want choose to sit and stare at the TV for hours and hours, day after day. Its just a waste to me.
#2: During the Clinton impeachment hearings announcing that former Senator Bob Bumpers would be the wind-up speaker for the day the captioning said: “Former Senator Bob Bumpers will be our wined up speaker for the day...”
TV? I play Mafia wars and Pirates on facebook and between downloading the latest anime from Japan.
Since I started doing this the wife and kids have been able to stop wearing body armor around the house.
No offense taken...just thought to explain my situation.
It's kind of entertaining to see how many FReepers click on a thread titled "What will YOU watch on TV?" to state that they don't watch TV for whatever reason.
ROTFL!
Welll....I wouldn't describe what I watch as crap, although there is a whole bunch of stuff that I have blocked from my favorites list. I still find quite a lot that is either entertaining of informative...the Food Channel has some good shows and there are quite a few religious channels available.
My favorite show, or one of them, is Bones. Think I will watch my Bones DVDs and go back and re-watch all 3 Dexter seasons.
I haven’t even had any news on at all so have no idea what is being said, although I am sure I do know. Lies, lies and more lies.
Boxee on a hacked Apple TV.Hulu is great.
Ted Kennedy gone but his stench shall live on
I used to be that tied to TV. We moved a year and a half ago and I never plugged it in afterwards. I don’t have to worry about being bombarded by Fat Teddy’s death. Or any other thing they’d like to spoon feed me.
Oh, I know there are good things to watch on cable or satellite. I just got tired of flipping through hundreds of channels - and still, I wasn’t really entertained. And they kept jacking up the prices.
When digital TV came around and I could get a decent picture for free, I decided to quit my satellite addiction. I haven’t missed it at all and now I’m getting some good books read.
BTW, how are your eyes doing since the surgery?
