> Would that be the stuff that came liquid sealed in a bottle? Just wondering if that is what I remember too? :)
I can't tell you where it came from, partly because I didn't get it myself, and partly because, well, ya know....
But it looked approximately like this:
I could be wrong, but I suspect that you're a few years younger than I am. When I was 19 I hadn't lost any friends yet. But there was a change coming over the Bay Area in the late 60s, and by the time that I was 22 calamity was everywhere. Schools began to have police on regular assignment, and some were even installing metal detectors in their entrances.
In some respects it was the good old days; I definitely had a lot of fun in the 60s but for some of my friends reality closed in and cancelled all the fun.
My guess is that I had a different childhood than you did and a wilder group of friends. I was always attracted to danger and unpredictable situations and that means that you associate with people that do things that get them killed.
I'm familiar with some of those, and I know what the green tab was - it had more in it than acid. As the market tightened up from enforcement lots of things were tried to keep the clientel happy. Much of that is where acid got blamed for strange happenings that were due to other things. Acid was strictly a brain trip, and didn't affect the rest of the body. It was used in such minute doses that it couldn't have caused very much of what it got blamed for.
The week long trips and loss of visual focus, and loss of manual dexterity were not caused by a few micrograms of LSD. I was cautious in my use of any pills, and I quit completely when the weird garbage became prevalent, but my girlfriend at the time did a fair amount of both dropping and dealing, and some of the crap she held I wouldn't allow in my car because I knew it wasn't just acid.
lucky im not one
tell me Im not td...itll make me feel better
When was the last time you listened to Terrapin Station?
My younger brotherwas (is?) like that. The only thing that saved his life was Viet Nam.
What week long trips? I just don't recognize the stuff you talk about.
One kid who’s father was a San Rafael City Councilman was awake and in a rage for five days straight. This made all the papers across the country, and soon after it started to happen more frequently. Others committed suicide after dropping and it got blamed on the acid. I never found it to be in any way believable.
I asked the mods to pull this thread, but obviously, they didn't. You can say, "well, just don't read it." And of course, you'd be right.
I'm just imagining some innocent teenager, reading about the good old days, an all of you trying to one-up each other on your knowledge of acid etc. One guy even projects the idea that LSD is harmless, unless you were flakey to begin with.
Of course nobody KNEW they were flakey until that first bad trip. I met a guy once, a prisoner. He had been a final inspector of shop repairs on Hueys, a position of great trust and responsibility. Then he took to smoking marijuana laced with heroin, and deserted. Just as well, who knows how many crewdogs would have died if he had stayed. Sort of ruined his career though.
Its ironic. Here you are, bragging about substance abuse (arguably a major factor in the movement that lost a war) and you all seem to be doing just fine.
I never took a hit, at least not of dope. Yet I am sitting here trying to decide whether it would be worth the trouble to go back (to the VA) and kiss the elbow of my Primary Care Nazi; when my last vial of insulin runs out. Ironic. Thats the word.

Look I'm a compulsive reader and have been all my life, I knew all the crazy media stories but you are trying to convince people that you are speaking from personal knowledge and you just don't seem to know it, were you yourself deeply immersed in the 1960s hippie LSD scene including being personally able to tell which LSD was which just from the effects? You just do not seem to know about drugs and the sixties other than as something you heard about from being alive then and having some friends that took drugs and what was causing all that liver failure, how old were those guys?
Sounds like you want to switch the topic to Heroin but that doesn’t interest me.
>>”Sounds like you want to switch the topic to Heroin...”
NO.

Honey, where would you like to go on our honeymoon trip? Vegas? The Bahamas? Jamaica?
How about an LSD trip?
That's the ticket. A no expenses paid LSD trip. Just think; no need for plane tickets, hotels, meals, tips, reservations. No luggage to carry around...
Throw in some idyllic Fenton, catatonic seizures, hospitalization, jail time, bail bond, attorneys fees and court costs, what more could a newlywed couple dream of?
I don't think anyone was bragging about their drug use and instead relayed stories of friends that had bad experiences on LSD. In fact, the story I told was about a friend who I can only imagine is dead today due to his drug use.
If I elected to, I could tell stories of friends who did various drugs and completed their PhD's and today are well respected figures in science and academia. In fact, I have seen articles posted here on FR by and about people who I witnessed doing hard drugs when we were in college. And for the most part, those people were met with affirmation here on FR.
And there lies the riddle of drug use, some use and their lives fall apart while others can use and they succeed in this world.
As for me, I was always scared $hitle$$ about addiction and never pushed the envelope with a substance.
And I would never advise anyone do any of the drugs mentioned on this thread but unlike some I would not want to see anyone go to prison because they elect to do certain drugs.
We are adults and we make adult decisions and we do not need the Nanny State Sycophants condemning out decisions of the past.
>>”If I elected to, I could tell stories of friends who did various drugs and completed their PhD’s and today are well respected figures in science and academia.:
And, if you did (make such posts) it would be of value to a naive future reader, in what way?
>>”We are adults and we make adult decisions and we do not need the Nanny State Sycophants condemning out decisions of the past. “
Neither do I “condemn” you. I merely expressed the opinion that posting about it NOW, on FR, might not be a good thing. Perhaps I did not do so well. If my incautious post could be misconstrued, perhaps yours could be too.

I don't think anybody said it is harmless. For example, I said (#91):
Acid is an incredibly powerful psychoactive drug. In my opinion it surpasses all other drugs in the regard that it is not for everyone, indeed most people probably should avoid it, because it will likely change their point of view about their lives, and most people can't handle questions like that.
I did say that in my opinion, acid got blamed for a huge variety of mishaps, injuries, psychoses, and deaths, which were actually the result of a person, often with existing psychological problems, ingesting not only acid but typically other stuff as well, in an unsafe environment, and doing stupid actions. In that regard, alcohol, pot, or any other psychoactive drug could do the same thing. Acid is arguably the most mind-altering of the lot, but a lot more people get their lives F-ed up due to alcohol than acid, for example.
The reason we're still here to talk about past psychedelic experiences is that we stopped (at least, in my case). Long long ago -- many decades ago.
Don't sweat the "innocent teenager" of today too much -- they've usually got more information about drugs than we did, and if something as generic as a discussion of long-past activities tips them over the line, I submit they would have found some other excuse if this one didn't exist.
There is no logical basis for your argumentative assertions; what is your game here?
You’ve described yourself in 180 degree conflicting ways here in this thread, from the incurable death-challenging daredevil, to the compulsive ever-reading student of the era. Can it be the the era hasn’t ended for you?
Sure did.
LOL, how does being an athlete, a wild guy and an avid reader conflict with each other, I also played high school football and always had a book with me. Your view of people is as cliched as this nonsense you tried to sell us about LSD.
You got on here with a goofy post insulting dayglored and you have been making a fool of yourself ever since.
You’re thrashing, why? - Where does it hurt?
