If President Obama were indeed born in Hawaii, was it while the islands were a territory of the United States?

A new wrinkle in the dispute over his birth – and whether he is eligible to be president under the U.S. Constitution's requirement that the president be a "natural born" citizen – appeared today when Obama's official MySpace page declared his age is 52, thus placing his birth year at 1957 instead of 1961 as has been claimed.

Hawaii was not a state in 1957, so, had his mother not been a US citizen, his qualification would be extremely dubious.

However, the point is that his mother was a US citizen, therefore, it does not matter if he was born on the moon. He was automatically naturalized at birth by his mother's citizenship, and that makes him a "natural born citizen," as the Constitution requires.

What is really intriguing is that given his mother's legal standing, he still refuses to produce a birth certificate. Why? He has no reason to hide it. It doesn't matter if he was born in Hawaii or anywhere else. The probable reason is that his birth certificate says that his name is "Barry Dunham," not "Barack 0bama," or that the birth certificate says that his father is "unknown." Either way he would be exposed as the fraud we've known him to be all along.

But still, unfortunately, Constitutionally eligible.

Seriously, the fact that he couldn't even have his real birchday number on his cake may lead us to believe that there is something wrong with the number of years he's breathed on this planet.

If he truly was born in Hawaii, I don’t think it matters when. Hawaii is a state, which would make him natural born.

Any dumba$$ can figure out zero is hiding something and further any dumba$$ can figure out it probably isn't his college thesis. He has problems being a natural born citizen of the United States of America....which of course any dumba$ can figure out he isn't!

I don't know that this is settled law. Birth in a US territory and subject to US jurisdiction would make him a US person for the purposes of the 14th Amendment and Constitutional protections, but that isn't the same thing as being a citizen. In any event, I think this question is mooted by the same justification as 0bama’s: Goldwater's mother was a US citizen.
