Prayer Request For My Wife's Family (The Matriarch Has Passed)

I have just returned to the lodge with a heavy heart. My wife's mother - in every sense the matriarch and glue that held together a very large, close family - passed away today, at 4:30 PM EST. She had been admitted to the hospital last night after side-effects from her first chemotherapy treatment earlier this week, as a precaution against the recurrence of a very aggressive form of cancer that was surgically removed two months prior. This morning, she suffered total cardiac and respiratory arrest, and as the result of anoxia, her higher brain function and internal organs began to shut down. The pain and heartbreak we all felt in the chapel as her family gave her doctors the go-ahead to terminate life-support was palpable. I ask all my Freeper friends to say a little prayer for strength for them on this day, and God bless.

Father God, wrap your loving arms around this family. May this woman’s life be a testimony of You and Your love, bringing many to salvation. May this family’s love and memories of this dear daughter of Yours be the glue that continues to hold this family together. May her prayers for them and the generations to come be ever heard by You and answered! Bring them comfort and peace, in this hard time. Raise up Joy, unspeakable Joy, that only You can give for her life and the knowledge she rests in You, awaiting each of their arrivals in heaven. In Jesus Name, Amen!

She is free from all pain and suffering and her work on earth is over. She did her job as mother over a large family and a good job evidenced by what was posted. May memories of her comfort everyone and most importantnly now...may her soul rest in peace.

Just wanted to pop in and thank you all for your prayers and support, and to give you all a little update. Today she and her sister spent most of the daylight hours at their mother's place, attending to unfinished business, not the least of which was delivering a $4,000 earmark to the local Christian mission that she had stashed away for them. WOO-HOO! Family that they had not seen for years were arriving in town with covered plates and rolled-up sleeves (
MY GOD IN HEAVEN, I knew she had a large family, but never realized how large it was! LOL). All of your prayers for strength have not gone unheard by the Lord - she came home with a crocheted blanket and handmade quilt pillow her mother always sat with in the living room, and now it is in my wife's chair, sitting before her new computer desk in the new den I spent dozens of hours and several thousands of dollars remodeling just for her (oak flooring and cedar paneling, at that!). I think she is still in denial (she admitted that if she doesn't keep busy she'll begin to dwell on it; that painful crash is still yet to come, and I have suffered it firsthand, myself), but she has kept her wits and perspective about her thus far. Please say a special prayer for her brother Thomas. That man is the genuine Ernest T. Bass of the family - the nut of nuts - but has been hit the hardest, and I worry for him.
Interment will take place following the eulogy service at 10 AM on August 3, 2009. The family has decided that, out of respect to the wishes of the deceased to be cremated, that she shall be interred in the same plot as her beloved late husband in Valley, Alabama. Escort from Blanton Baptist Church to the cemetery shall be provided by the Valley Police Department.

Still praying for your family Viking.
I lost my Dad suddenly (massive heart attack) when he was just 56 years old. It was painful for a very long time, but I can tell you it eventually gets better, and there will come a time when thinking of your loved one will actually make you smile, and remember all the wonderful times.
I pray God brings all your family members comfort at this difficult time.
