Wow! 10” in 24 hours!
I keep an eye on you on the radar. Your bad weather days usually follow mine by 2 days or so. Yes, you are NOT going to have a good ‘beach day’ today!

I heard that on Boortz this week. Ouch it is painfull.
OTOH the thorn less blackberries are huge. Bought another basket of peaches so we'll have some fruit in the freezer....and then there are the Jackson County melons. Anyone freeze cantaloupe or watermelon successfully....Love to know your method.
OIC!! Well, one thing’s fersur, I’m def a slave to the weather.
We didn’t get any rain over night, but it is overcast and only 82, so I think I just might think about going out back and pulling some weeds. I need to put some brussel sprouts in.
What a shame. A mango fanatic would grow it a pot for five years then perhaps plant outside. The pot could be wheeled to where it would be protected. I might post a few mango photos
We had originally planned on putting our tent up at a friend’s on Tuesday so we wouldn’t have to deal with the traffic Wednesday morning, it was Pony Swim day, but with 5 inches of water in their front yard, that sure wasn’t gonna happen!!
Good morning! I didn’t know there was a regular garden thread so I am so glad to see this. If possible, can I be added to the ping list?
I have small container garden due to too many dogs and their desire to have veggies too :)
I grow hot peppers and tomatoes every year but for some reason, this year my plants have not done as well as years past. I put the plants in new rich potting soil, etc. but am not having the luck I thought I would.
I have tried to grow strawberries in pots as well and that was the only plant that was producing well but I can’t keep the birds and chipmunks out of them. The chipmunks laugh when they see me they are so bold!!!
Thanks for adding me to the list.
I have cukes and tomatoes, as well.
We are doing potatoes for the first time this year ~ actually, the second. I tried them about 15 years ago, but didn’t turn out a crop.
Hope to do better this time out.
In the tree department, my Black Walnuts have shed their first fruits, whic is rather early for this time of year. We are also having trees drop their leaves a bit early.
Norwegian Maples are dropping the helicopter seed pods.
Again, seems early. I guess the result of the cool June and July??
She starts out saying the crops are growing very well and they are organic and some have pesticides and we should make a perfect pesticide for the crops it is good for people and healthy and keeps the crops preserved because we need the food because it is food and stuff
She rambles on about lower rent for shops in town and other things we can be rich in cotton and mining metals and silk worms We can make things and put them in the stores.
On the East Coast they have slaves and believe in slavery and made in China. On the West Coast ummm the New West Coast we dont believe in that we believe in the Union and that is what we are.
You can grow every type of fruit and vegetable you want, thats how they do it, they have Fruit Trees and Vegetable Trees that is where Fruit and Vegetables come from.
People we live in California this is our home this is where we live. Growing food is sooooo good ummmmm for the people because it is free. All you have to do is pay the farmers and pay for the land. But why do we have to pay for the land it is free land new land you know. Ummmm the foods free so we should just sell it at the Farmers Market.
Gabz that is the best I can do ...
YOU HAVE
ADDED TO THE WEEKLY GARDENING PING LIST
My cukes and tomatoes have been wonderful. However, that blasted squash borer got the cucumbers and I had to pull up the spent plants. Have made lots of pesto this year and it looks like I’ll have much more to come. Pesto, cukes and tomatoes - can’t get any better than that.
Wow, how scary is that?! I have a headache now.
Lol, I think the seed companies I purchased seed from tricked me. None of my veggies are growing on trees this year! Think I can get a refund? Wait, it should have all been free! Now I feel really stupid.
My zuke plants are huge and producing flowers like crazy in the last week. Are all flowers supposed to have a zuke under it? Probably half of them just have stalk not fruit not sure if that is normal or not. Tomatoes are still not turning color, I want a tomato sniff. Peppers were doing great but have slowed down. Jalapenos are getting bigger but not ready yet.
“Are all flowers supposed to have a zuke under it?”
Zukes (all squashes) have both male and female flowers. The female flowers produce the squash. The males release their pollen, then fall off the face of the earth and never call you again, LOL!

I hate my watermelon tree! Seems like you know just before I decide to pick one you know it falls from the tree and bursts open on the ground you know. I know they are free but you know ...
Ha! I DO live in the Puget Sound area (about 60 miles from Seattle), and my garden is going gangbusters! The squash is taking over the broccoli, got tons of lettuce, little cukes starting to pop, a radish plant that’s 3 feet tall (decided to let it grow and see how big it gets...kinda funny, actually). This is my first garden ever, and I can’t believe how well it’s going, and I also can’t believe the fabulous weather we’ve been having. I’ve been in our pool everyday this week in the afternoon, sitting in my noodle chair, sipping a beer, looking at my garden! Will probably have to pick more zukes and sweet peas this afternoon. Got LOTS of green tomatos, but nothing ripe yet. Also lots of blooms on my honeydew and watermelon plants, but nothing forming yet. They were bought on a whim just to see if anything would happen. With the way the economy is going, this could really help! We haven’t had any substantial work in our shop for a month!
Thank you, I figured there was a logical explanation. Makes sense the guys just pollinate and leave.
Excellent results for a first garden. Congratulations!
And...ENJOY!
