It's a nice lazy summer afternoon, you've just finished lunch and are getting ready to head out with some of your other retired buddies for a round of golf. "We need to talk to you about how much longer you intend to live." As you stare in disbelief, he continues..." We are required by law to counsel you on your intentions of using life sustaining drugs or hospital procedures in the event you become ill." "If you sign this form, we can withhold such treatments and procedures from you, by law, and thus hasten your demise and in return you will be doing your country a great service by decreasing the surplus population." (apologies to Charles Dickens). There are several scenarios as to what happens next but unfortunately they all involve jail time for the poor fellow who answered the knock at the door.

"End of life Counseling" is being dismissed by Obama as nothing more than informing people about the need for a "living will" and that it's something everyone should have. He was taking questions from a group from AARP. He also went on to inform them that such stories as the one above are meant to misrepresent and misinform the public about his plan. The opponents of National Health Care will say anything to scare you and to keep you from having it. He also went on to say that there aren't enough government workers to go out and talk to all the elderly in the nation who are currently on Medicare.
Obama needs to read his own bill. It does have a provision for mandatory counseling of Medicare recipeients and the government is in charge of making it happen. What he should have said if he was being truthful..."We don't have enough workers yet!". If he can find some 30 plus people to be "Czars", how hard will it be to find interviewers?
The freedom to live ones life without government intrusion is sacred. To try and keep you from extending your life by taking full advantage of our medical technology and advances is criminal, not to mention Un-American! Their only purpose is to cut their expenses in administering the Medicare program which you have been taxed for your entire working life! They will do anything and say anything to get this bill passed. Don't by into it, Don't let them do it. I have posted a link to contact on the right side of this blog page. There you will find all the contact information for your Congressional Representatives. Stand up for your rights and let them know you want Government out of your personal life!

If Mexico has any sense, it will turn into a huge fee for service health care state, absorb most of our MD's and other medical personnel to service patients from Canada and the US.
Seriously, there will be clinics set up across the border and in the bahamas which will attract people who can pay.
How do I know?
Because its already happening. Retirees in the border states already use Mexican dentists and doctors. Once obamacare kicks in it will become more widespread. You may find US doctors setting up clinics themselves.
I will tell them, read my living will when it becomes necessary.

I agree. If there is a need for a service, someone will provide it. Just think what a boon to the travel industry it will be...medical vacation planning, group discounts, etc!
Panama. They already have a lot of EU specialists and some from the US. A lot cleaner and better care in Panama.

As a former ambulance crew the only thing that the letters DNR mean is that the tatoo guy saw a sucker & took some of your money. If you ain’t got legal paperwork handy the guys in the squad will work on you.

Imagine how much healthcare money could be saved if those counselors volunteered to terminate their own lives 30 years ahead of schedule. They really should lead by example.
