Weekly Roundup - Living On Nothing Edition Category: Roundups | Comments(15)
Did you hear about the guy that lives on nothing? No seriously, he lives on zero dollars a day. Meet Daniel Suelo, who lives in a cave outside Moab, Utah. Suelo has no mortgage, no car payment, no debt of any kind. He also has no home, no car, no television, and absolutely no creature comforts. But he does have a lot of creatures, as in the mice and bugs that scurry about the cave floor hes called home for the last three years.
To us, Suelo probably sounds a little extreme. Actually, he probably sounds very extreme. After all, I suspect most of you reading this are doing so under the protection of some sort of man-made shelter, and with some amount of money on your person, and probably a few needs for money, too. And who doesnt need money unless they have completely unplugged from the grid? Still, its an amusing story about a guy who rejects all forms of consumerism as we know it.

CLEAN Conservatives vs FILTHY Liberals— A Photographic Essay
After the 2 million strong conservative freedom rally on 9-12:

And, here is the filth left for someone else to clean up after the Inauguration of Barack Obama:

Via Prisca
The democrats were obviously waiting for Big Government to clean up for them.
I have realized lately that the unions and the bureaucrats will use government to preserve their jobs and their income streams. They will cheat, steal and lie to get what they want. San Diego has gone bankrupt and apparently they will scam money any way they can to keep the bureaucrats and union workers happy. It’s disgusting. California state government is exactly the same way: they are handmaidens to the SEIU, AFSCME, police and fire and prison guard unions.
I don’t know SD all that well. I did have a great aunt who lived in San Diego back around 1900 or so. They were fairly well-to-do but still lived in a simple bungalow, and eventually moved to Escondido. Her daughter married a Navy man, and ended up cheating on him behind his back, then divorced him for the other guy. I found a letter from the divorced man explaining all the goings-on, saying he’d punch the other guy in the nose if he ever ran into him.
I think San Diego used to be a humble city, promoting itself and trying to get people to visit or move there, but now they are arrogant and think they “are” someone.
Now that I think about it, the media could spin this that the libs were making work for someone!
We just got home from our trip to DC. It was so worth the long drive. We drove to Altoona, PA on Friday, then to MD to catch the Metro on Saturday morning. Our (PA)son came with us for the day. There were people everywhere and more kept coming. We got to the street where they were marching towards the capitol around 11:40. The crowd was moving and we and many others just added ourselves to the group. I guess people just kept coming and coming behind us so it was one long, continuous trek until the space got filled in. Then the streets just filled up farther and farther back. Everyone was friendly and polite. There were so many great signs. We got up near the pool and settled in there. The porta potties were fairly close so I figured I’d go while it was still early. I had to wait 40 minutes in a line! Good thing I didn’t wait till I really had to go. After I got back we moved up closer to the capitol. We got close enough to be able to hear the speeches and music. We stayed there till the end. Hubby will post pictures and then I’ll post the link. We’re pretty tired, 10 hour trip back today. I’ll have to catch up here more tomorrow.
This is a special recipe, it is for Monday’s, for those days that nothing went right, well go home and beat the crab....

Said they lasted a couple of months and he had gotten pretty good at dropping the oil pan and putting in a set.<<<
We had a 56 Chevie that kept breaking the points, and did one night, during a rainstorm and not near home.
I did not have chewing gum, so Bill used a regular bandaid and it worked for a month, he wanted to see how long that it would work, but I was nasty, it was the car I drove and I was tired of men telling me not to run the battery down, when I was stranded some place...
When they checked it out fully, it was decided the distributor post, did not fit the engine correctly, that it had a lemon of an engine, that was made wrong/or off kilter.
In 1947, after WW2, cars and parts were scare, we were sharecropping on a farm in Seminole, Texas.
Dad kept digging in the junk pile and put together a 40 or 41 Ford Woodie, LOL, no windows, but it did run and would go one mile, before you put more water in the radiator.
I don’t think he ever did get the radiator to work, but the car ran fine.

That is the one that I listen to Las Vegas, Denver and San Diego on, use their web player and it is even better, on the page there is the drop down at the middle for different players that you will use.
I prefer the small box near the top, for it does not open another page and takes a lot of squeezing before it gives up on this dial up phone connection.
Your corn experiments are interesting, was the super tall one meant to be fodder or table corn.
None of the hybrids will grow here, so I stuck with the Black Aztec.
I do so envy you, being able to do all that you do and look for more to take on.
Enjoy every minute, for it is fun and work.
Our grannies were using beets to color food, long before they put red in a bottle, I am so glad the clove oil worked for you.
What pride you must feel, when you look at your supply.
Know that I am proud of you.
I wanted to ask you what Purr Baby and TT were doing these days. From what youve said, Purr Baby is the real boss although she lets TT think he is in control.<<<
Thank you, for all of you mean the world to me, know that I am not alone, not with all the love and friendship that I feel on this thread.
Now Miss Purr, she must have had a talk with T.T, for he runs to the cheese, tastes it and walks away.........
It appears that she has told him “I told you to go and get me some cheese, not for you to eat, but for me!!!”
I have in the beginning watched him steal her cheese and he ate it, no more, he leaves the area when the cheese come their way.
He will be a sit on the top of the ceiling cat, for he goes higher each day and the vinegar spray, only stops him, until he thinks I am not paying attention.
CLEAN Conservatives vs FILTHY Liberals A Photographic Essay
After the 2 million strong conservative freedom rally on 9-12:<<<
I remember the January stories about the filth they left behind.
And keep in mind they are the ones who say we must all become greenies and,,,etc.
As Ann Coulter and Dr. Savage both say “Liberalism is a mental disorder”.
And why are those 2 gals sitting in the filth?
I think San Diego used to be a humble city, promoting itself and trying to get people to visit or move there, but now they are arrogant and think they are someone.<<<
LOL, come to think of it, San Diego has always been uppity,
It was either 1910 or 1920 that the city fathers ran the Navy out of San Diego, didn’t want all those drunk sailors on their streets.........etc.
It was not long, before said city fathers were begging the Navy to return, poor fools had no idea how much money they bring to a town.
They still talked about it when I was a young Navy wife.
Everyone was friendly and polite. There were so many great signs. We got up near the pool and settled in there. The porta potties were fairly close so I figured Id go while it was still early. I had to wait 40 minutes in a line! Good thing I didnt wait till I really had to go. After I got back we moved up closer to the capitol. We got close enough to be able to hear the speeches and music. Fantastic, wonderful, I am so glad you went, it is a real once in a lifetime experience.
To feel all the emotion in the air, the minds full of thoughts and see so many people with a goal.
WoW!!!
I’m so glad you were able to go! We were out on the main street of Fresno with about 300 people (which is remarkable because we just ginned up this idea in our last action meeting with only 200 attendees)! We were out on the street for two hours and got lots of honks and waves. Some people even stopped and joined us. The two guys who got up the idea (Steve the Carpet Cleaner and Jared) created a bunch of signs and there were American and Gadsden flags, too. My husband had his Alamo flag... a lot of people asked what it was.
And to think a year or two ago my husband poo-poohed the protest idea.
“I remember the January stories about the filth they left behind.” <<<
I can imagine the conservative parents with their kids: “Don’t throw that on the ground! Pick it up and throw it in the trash barrel over there!”
We care about our country... the libs are there to steal whatever they can get and leave a big mess for some responsible person to pick up.
Our protest area was also immaculate when we were done. I think I was picking up trash that blew in from the street, LOL.
By climbing the curtains or the furniture TT is showing Purr Baby that he can get higher than she can. But the cheese issue shows that she is the boss.
Which one has three legs?
Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue
STROKE: Remember the 1st Three letters....S.T.R.
STROKE IDENTIFICATION
It only takes a minute to read this....
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he
can totally reverse the effects of a stroke....totally. He said the trick
was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient
medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail
to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple
questions:
S*Ask the individual to SMILE.
T*Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny out today.)
R*Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency
number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher..
New Sign of a Stroke ———— Stick out Your Tongue
NOTE: Another ‘sign’ of a stroke is this: Ask the person to ‘stick’ out
his tongue. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other,
that is also an indication of a stroke.

That is soo helpful. My first husband had a stroke and I did not know he’d had one. He was very abusive and would not let me call the paramedics. This was on Christmas Day, 1995. I finally did call them, took the kids to my neighbor’s house, and went to the hospital for the rest of the night. He lost major function on his right side, and I could not take care of him. He finally divorced me and went his own way.
Which one has three legs?<<<
That is Purr Baby.
Tonight, I saw Purr make a run and jump attempting to see what TT was watching in the bathtub.
Pooor baby, hung there by one leg, and it had the paw stuck in a bar of soap, LOL, so she got her mouth washed out for all the cussing she does on the days she does not get cheese.
I thought at first TT might not be a real bright cat, but I am finding that he is brighter than any cat I have known, to be so young, maybe 2 or 3 months old, he can find more ways to entertain himself than any other cat that I have known.
LOL, and he does need entertained, or he comes and scratches my legs out of boredom.
They are both fully tame now and sleep in the shelves of the computer stand.
And scare me, for I forget they are there and then they wake up and bite my toe, or touch my foot or leg and I am yelling, in surprise.
They must remain a pair and need each other, there has to be a bond, the bulldogs killing the mother, then starving for several days.
I still do not know how they got inside the cement block and did not see them for the several trips of looking as far as I could go with the oxygen tube...
I suspect that one of the old cats, put them there, to be found or to die, and found they were.
And maybe Mama was pulling strings while waiting for her Angel wings.
Our protest area was also immaculate when we were done. I think I was picking up trash that blew in from the street, LOL.<<<
I have always been proud of the Freepers at protests, Ladies that even wear dresses and Men who are Gentlemen.
Good for you, for someone will notice that you left the area clean.
LOL, Maybe you should write a letter to the editor and see if they post it.
I finally did call them, took the kids to my neighbors house, and went to the hospital for the rest of the night. He lost major function on his right side, and I could not take care of him. He finally divorced me and went his own way.<<<
One of many men who have pulled that trick.
It always amazes me, I don’t know if they do it to set the wife free and not be a burden.
Or if it is to prove they can take care of themselves, for I have know others who reacted the same.
I am sorry that you had to suffer through that, for a divorce is rough to deal with.
