So my first copy of Consumer Reports arrives and I eagerly await exciting reviews of vacuum cleaners, pet food and garden tools. Imagine my surprise when I see that this August 2009 issue of Consumer Reports presents THEIR version of " A Prescription for Healthcare".
HUH? And so they proceed to tell me that " almost all agree that the healthcare system is BROKEN " and offer a SEVEN PAGE description of " how Consumer's Union would fix it" !
What followed was a complete commercial for Obamacare, replete with disengenuous distortions repelete with photos of examples of Americans for whom our Healthcare system has failed. ( kinda like those Obama voters who "appear " at his Townhall Meetings telling their tragic tale of woe.)
Consumer Reports "favors a National Health Insurance Exchange." Here's a clip from their rosy scenario... " couples who couldn't get or couldn't afford insurance from their employers could buy it directly from a private or public insurer through The Exhange with sliding -scale subsidies based on their income."
Then come the attacks of the opposition to nationalized healthcare...."Opponents of reform like to villify the public plan as "government takeover" of healthcare. We disagree. Its simply another insurer that uses the same private providers to deliver care."
Then there is a pont by point "refuting "of " 5 common fears of health reform"...such as "FEAR! Health reform will let facelss government bureaucrats come between you and your doctor."....
Gee, thanks for explaining away all my fears...Oh, now I'm not afraid of THAT anymore, WHEW!
After reading this article I am cancelling my subscription...after all, if they are THIS wrong about healthcare, how can they advise me on a vacuum cleaner!
What do you think?
Consumers Report is a libtard magazine? Who knew.
Thanks for the heads up. I will send them a nasty gram and cancel my subscription.
CR has always been a leftist publication.
Consumer who? Stopped reading them ages ago.
Can get all the appliance, etc. reviews and ratings I need via the internet.
CR has been east coast liberal forever.
It’s what they do.
I’ll read it occasionally at the dentists office.
None of their “objective” evaluations on stuff like appliances matches up with my experience.
Anything that sucks, they’ll review is the way I understand it.
Regars
LOL!!!
It is fun to slam these jerks and go viral with my attacks on their leftists stuff...hadn’t bought the mag in years, what a shock!
I was a long time subscriber that they drove away.
Eff them.
Gah! If I subscribed, I would cancel!
I subscribe only to the online version, for product ratings.
Routinely, when they fart out an editorial about (for example) socialized medicine, I email them to the effect of, “Just keep out of politics and review stuff.”
Great idea!
You are so right....what is disturbing is that this is where the “average” American gets their info...it all goes back to the dumbing down of education!
time to cancel the subscription
How will that be possible, since the private insurance companies wont be allowed to take on new customers.
CR lies.
Consumers Union has always been an anti-american, anti-freedom marxist cult.
What’s new?
I think they probably just lost a lot of subscribers.
I knew beforehand they were a lefty publication. I hate it when they beat their chest and they delusionally think of themselves as the premier reviewer of everything.
Years ago, they tried to “expertly” review a laptop from HP that accdg to CNET and laptopreview.com were lemons but they keep insisting it’s top of the line.
Thanks for the heads-up anyway.
Oh do not buy WIRED mag either. They shill for Al Gore and glo-bull warming and had him on the covers twice already...
