Los Angeles, CA (BANG) - Sarah Jessica Parker disapproves of her "Sex and the City" character. The actress - who plays columnist Carrie Bradshaw for all six TV series, last year's movie and will reprise her role for next year's film - didn't agree with the raunchy antics her alter-ego and her friends got up to.
She is quoted as saying: "If the audiences had known my true feelings about some of the sexual content in 'Sex and the City,' they may have felt I wasn't the right person to be in such a series."
Sarah - who recently became the mother of twin girls, who were born via a surrogate - admitted she didn't even like drinking Carrie's famous Cosmopolitan cocktails."
She revealed: "I just don't drink, that's part of the problem. I don't like the taste of it and I don't drink to relax. It has always been that way."
Unlike her co-stars - Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon - the 44-year-old star had a no-nudity clause written into her contract as she wasn't happy flashing her flesh.
She said: "I was thrilled that the others did the nude scenes so well and they looked great. But I have to deal with my own modesty."

she’s just so unattractive.. but I give her credit for voicing her feelings..
There it is. ;)
Never watched more than a couple of hours of the show, but I would say it has a collection of some of the prettiest over 40 women in Hollywood, my favorite being Kristin Davis. Its a shame their time is wasted on a TV show I don’t get into.
modesty my ass....why then be paraded at the Playboy Mansion
seems you can take the horse to the water but ya can’t lose the horsehead
But she approved of the money she took.
Sarah Jessica Parker excluded from the reference to the prettiest over 40 women comment, of course.
I have to say I didn’t like her character either. She was too insecure, grasping and often desperate. (Not to mention unrealistic) It amazing how many times I say that I didn’t care for the show as a whole and even found the characters a bit creepy that another woman is relieved that she isn’t the only one that found something icky about the show.
Weren’t the characters in this series originally Gay men?
Sarah Jessica Parker disapproved of her Sex and the City character, but did approved of the bucket loads of money she made from it. I guess her money is the only thing that can change her standards.
I never watched the show. But loved Davis ever, since I saw her on Seinfeld and didn’t know who she was back then.
“But she approved of the money she took.”
You betcha!
this reminds me of the time Candice Bergen said in an interview that Dan Quayle had raised an excellent point about the media and the effects of single motherhood (years after Quayle could have used her help, and with Murphy Brown safely in reruns, of course). Maybe we could call this the Rerun Conversion?
FWIW: I appeared on an episode of Sex and The City. In the last season ("Out of the Frying Pan"), you will see Carrie and her Russian boyfriend standing in front of a cafe in a kitchenware store. The barista working the machine directly behind them as they talk is yours truly. My little brush with fame...
That’s just plain mean, funny as all, but mean.
I heard her years ago when some idiot like Katie Courik praised her character, SJP said “She’s a mess”. Just because you’re in a show doesn’t mean your character is a hero, although I always thought other characters on the show were far worse sluts. They were all kooky democrats quite obviously.
“Not to mention unrealistic...”
Yep. Those $500 shoes and never wearing the same outfit twice? All on a freelance writers salary? LOL!
I know. It was escapism. But I found the show hard to watch the few times that I was forced to watch it with girlfriends who were into it for the ‘Mock Factor.’ ;)
Way to stand up for your own morals Jessica! Her character probably lowered the moral stances of many young women who were trying to emulate the lifestyle she portrayed onscreen. I wonder if she would ever play a conservative woman seriously?
