It was a great sister lunch! Hours and hours of catching up.
Now I'm going to kick my shoes off and put on a red t-shirt.
Red Friday. For love of the troops.

Appreciate those links....very fascinating! I will send the links to my sons. Both are adventuresome, one more than the other! They could be interested in that! One thing though, they both can cook fairly well. Some came from me and some from my mom! Of course, I thought my Mom was the best cook in the world, but she did a lot by memory...a dash of this, a pinch of that, and about a cup of this.....those things are hard to follow when you’re learning to cook!
I received a Better Homes and Garden cookbook as a wedding gift and the first two things I learned to make were Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Spanish Rice. These are similar dishes and I could make each with 1/2 lb. hamburger...LOL! Don’t forget, my husband was in the Navy and for two, we could stretch a dollar....LOL! We were happy and that means a lot! Its fun thinking of those great old times.....wish I could be back for a little while in those memories. You should write a poem about being back in those old memories...LOL!

yorkie, when I used to visit my Aunt and cousin in Florida, my cousin would melt about a stick of butter in the skillet, then put the bread in and coated both sides of bread, then put in oven and brown on both sides. Talk about fattening but it was just a special thing for us. And tasty and delicious.

Glad your trip turned out so good, Dave! Now, as far as the sign, we could use that for some good target practice, couldn’t we? LOL!
Meant to answer your post the other evening and forgot! Better late than never!

Don’t know whose shoe they are. Even though they’re higher than my usual, I’d buy them in a second.

For All The Cat~People Of Amy's Place
Helping Out
Teddy Bears are the absolute masters of being discreet
Keepers of secrets that once heard, they never shall repeat
Built to be soft and plump and always ready for a warm embrace
Is it any wonder that the head of the bed seems to be the place
Where Our Little Pretty One's friends wait with a smile on every face?
Yet, this morning, my sister Gwen and I happened on an inviting sight
An old and familiar Teddy Bear sitting in a stream of light
Upon a cushioned wicker chair that promised to be warm and bright
Awaiting some minor repairs and a brand new bow tie not knotted tight
Gwen could not resist, so I quickly followed her powerful leap
Only to see Gwen curl up comfortably and close her eyes to sleep
Leaving me to chat with Teddy and to make sure he looked presentable
Trying to straighten his bow tie, but some things are un~preventable
Like a stream of warm sunlight flowing across my silky fur
Presents an excellent opportunity to relax, stretch out and purr

Steamed eggs - Drop 2 eggs into skillet with one t. butter, heated. Cook over med-low heat until the whites are almost cooked through. Pour about 3 T. water in the skillet, and immediately put lid on. Let simmer yes, yes yes!! This is the only way to fix eggs! Add some fried potatoes and onions, and several pieces of that camper toast...never heard of that before, and homemade strawberry jam and shazammmm!!!!!!!

I am not likely to write of memories beyond a certain point. My father was a man who beat me so hard at age six I bled from the cuts from the buckle on his teamster belt. He told mom he was going drive out a demon in me. (I’m afraid it was in him!) I spent my nineteenth birthday alone on a jungle covered hillside hiding in a thick bush from a patrol of Cong with a dead enemy soldier beside me.
I came home to hate and ridicule, where on nearly every TV show had every nutcase was a freaked out Nan vet killing innocents. I was fired for being a vet, and old friends shunned me out of fear I was going to freak out on them. I toured the world, working my way around it by taking any and every job possible. I did it, not to see the world so much, as to find some peace not to be found in my own country.
Memories can oft be flights of fantasy, but they can also be tours in an old and all too familiar hell. There is little I care to recall too clearly, and certainly not publically.

We were having a very good conversation until I brought up memories. So sad to hear of your memories....not good! I guess we forget that some just do not have the sweet memories that I do and others do. And there are many others who have memories such as yours!
But Johnn, you have overcome and are so talented in so many ways in life and let’s be grateful for that for today! You have many talents besides your writings. We will try to concentrate on the good and be thankful for today as best we can! May sunshine be on your shoulder from now on. ~smile~
