One might think that subconsciously that was the intent. I’ve seen it a couple of times.
And based on that experience, if he is anything like the folks I’ve known, he is in no mental condition to run a lemonade stand. Politics aside, he is in the midst of a breakdown, and he doesnt even realize it.

Rush had an interesting thought today. He said the affair is one thing, but Sanford clearly wanted to go down in flames and the affair was just a pretext for this. He thinks it’s because Sanford - like a lot of people Rush knows - thinks the end is at hand, Bambi is going to destroy the country, and it’s time to just go for broke.
Sanford, if you will recall, fought to reject the “stimulus” and I believe last week he lost and was told he would have to accept it.
In any case, there’s a lot more going on than an affair.

Very well put. To use “love” as an excuse to betray those who trust you the most, shows a low, self-indulgent character that doesn’t belong in any position of trust or leadership.
What makes you think the penis made the decision? Maybe Jenny Sanford is a total b-i-itch and he was so sick of putting up with her crap to the point that he didn't care anymore. Maybe even, she was the kind of "loving wife" that continually accuses her husband of cheating so he decided one day, why the hell not? She already thinks I am, I might as well have something to feel guilty about? There could be a hundred things wrong with her that we wouldn't know about. Just sayin', people learn how to play roles. And public figures learn to play their roles even better.
It is my opinion based on divorced and separated couples that I have known (as well as a couple in our neighborhood in which the wife has gone astray), that most married men AND women cheat because there is something wrong with their marriage. Not because they see an opportunity to get away with something. I can just as easily propose that Jenny Sanford is that nagging witch of a wife that has learned her role particularly well and if she really was that wonderful a wife and partner, he wouldn't have seen a need to do the horizontal rumba with this South American cutie pie.
Women don’t know the mind of men any more than men know the mind of women. Although I strongly believe I would not fall into the same poor decision he did, I can understand a man doing that, being that I am one. There is a lot of subtle stuff goin’ on in the “motivational” part of the male brain, and the female brain.
I attend a weekly men’s Bible study. One of the main topics of conversation is how to resist sexual tempation and not go astray. I’m not condoning it, but I understand it is a problem/temptation a lot of men deal with (more men than you think.)

That’s the extent of my knowledge, other than (reading a French site) that the woman in question was a former “fitness model” (basically a female smallish bodybuilder with large breasts -— something you’d see on a Bally’s Fitness or BowFlex commercial).
in every case where I’ve known a guy personally who strayed, the wife who was cheated on was invariably better looking than the mistress.
There are two times a man is at highest risk of making some dumb decisions based on his “other brain”. Puberty and Mid-life crisis (40’s or so).
Women have issues too, but men and women behave badly in different ways from each other. It is why there are more men in prison than women.
One interesting stat: A man is very unlikely to divorce his wife until he gets a girlfriend, while a moman is more than willing to divorce her husband even without a boyfriend.
I don’t justify his actions, but I understand it. Just as I understand why a person may murder another person, but it in no way means I justify it.

Argentina is not a hotbed of super sexy latin women. Most are of the italian/german/spanish old world type...and they show it by thirty-five.
