Carradine mystery deepens, family seeks FBI help

BANGKOK/LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The family of David Carradine has asked U.S. authorities to help unravel the mystery of his death, amid conflicting reports about how his body was found hanging naked in a Bangkok hotel.

Mark Geragos, a Los Angeles attorney who represented Carradine's brother, the actor Keith Carradine, said on Saturday the family has contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation and filed a formal request to have the FBI contact authorities in Thailand for further information.

"They've done it because of the conflicting reports and the nature of those reports that have given the family great pause," Geragos told Reuters.

Speculation about the death of Carradine, 72, who starred in the 1970s-era U.S. television show "Kung Fu" and the more recent "Kill Bill" movies, has deepened since his body was discovered on Thursday by a maid in the Bangkok hotel suite where he was staying while filming the movie "Stretch."

...Geragos said Carradine's family had no more information than what had been written and said in the media, which was why they were seeking the FBI's help.

No mystery, the man was just trying to get his kink on.

And obviously, that not the most dignified way to check out.

Hi Dolly. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

My interest in this is I have been a Keith Carradine fan for a long time. I'll bet you remember him in "Choose Me"..?? Great, quirky film. But thought he was quite unlike his bro.

Anyway, Keith seems like a good guy and I feel badly for the family.

It is clear whether or not he was hung...

I think I’d just let this die a natural death if it were a family member of mine.

A real mystery why anyone with money hires him after the poor job he did in the Scott Peterson case and other cases.

Good observation. Partial asphyxiation has been used as a technique for more powerful climax, like rockers popping amyl nitrate at just the right moment. Problem with this is that there is official report his hands were tied behind his back. So maybe he had “help” who would be charged if they could be located. Either way Geragos is a gutter scraper. Very sad end.

I have little doubt this was a homosexual tryst of some kind.....with a game gone wrong.

If Carradine was going to commit suicide, I doubt if he'd do it in his birthday suit.....most suicides do keep a little dignity at the end.

If his hands were really tied behind his back, then it's quite obvious a second person (or more) was involved.

Maybe.

I’m still not sure this was, what it appeared. Sure it could be that simple - but it could be that’s what it was supposed to look like too.

This isn’t a slam at Thailand - which this poster thinks in one of the world’s true free libertarian nations, combining reverence for life, deep faith in religion with a degree of personal freedom Americans can only really imagine. And all of that looked after by an actual sitting monarch - a universally much-beloved King who seems to be a true benevolent ruler.

Thailand does a lot of things right. Certainly more than we seem to be doing recently.

But let’s be realistic as well. Fact is Thailand is not a place (nor is the Lumpini area around Carradine’s hotel especially - just a stone throw from Patpong) where it is difficult to find companionship. Or distraction. Or temptation.

It seems somehow odd frankly, without getting too specific, that he would be alone like that.

Seems strange.

I've heard of stepping on it, and catching it your zipper, but hanging it from the coat rack is a new one.

He was there to make a movie. Usually there is a lot of ready-made company on a movie set: crew, other actors, etc. I’m not sure if David Carradine was normally a loner...??

It’s hard for me to comprehend seeking sexual thrills, or any kind of thrills, at age 72... but I believe Carradine was always known for thrill-seeking, the wild member of the family.

“... obviously, that not the most dignified way to check out.”

His family is probably mortified as well as deeply saddened by his death and need an explanation of what happened. The truth probably would hurt too much.

I did read in one of the first threads, some FReepers claim he enjoyed the occassional recreational beverage.

Again, Patpong right nearby?

Probably if there’s more involved, we won’t find out anyway.

No, the family simply wants this to be ruled an accidental death or homicide, if instead it is ruled a suicide, they will not receive insurance money.
