Denshay Benson, 17, is being held in lieu of bail totaling $10,000 on misdemeanor charges of assault with bodily injury and deadly conduct with a vehicle.
17-year-old high school senior was in jail Thursday night accused of assaulting the mayor of League City after an argument over a roadway incident in Clear Lake Shores overheated. Police say he punched her as he tried to leave, but his girlfriend says the mayor instigated the incident and used a racial epithet while cursing him loudly.
Denshay Benson, 17, is charged with endangering Toni Randall with his vehicle and later knocking her to the ground after she confronted him in a nearby parking lot. He was being held in lieu of bail totaling $10,000 on misdemeanor charges of assault with bodily injury and deadly conduct with a vehicle.

Her husband is a deputy sherif and she owns a hardware store she has worked in since she was a teen.
And I dont care what color either of them is! Benson lost any chance of credibility when he "hit a woman" who is as I said before, very tiny!
Someone said "they are talking to Quanell X. Way to play the race card instead of owning up to your bad behavior."
Check out the rest of the story on Toni!
I disagree...
All elected officials are scum-bags and the benefit of any doubt should go to the civilian.
“she is a unpaid Mayor by choice and a hardware store owner.”
She’s still a scum-bag if she’s an elected official, and undoubtably instigated the whole thing...
” A punch in this woman’s ribs is Assault and is a crime. “
No, the fact that she’s a woman has nothing to to with it. You cant be “equal” and not equal at the same time. If she instigated it as the witness asserts, she should not whine about the out come.
Shes still a scum-bag if shes an elected official, and undoubtably instigated the whole thing...

A very foolish statement,,,
Too broad of a brush,,,
I’ll give you 60% + and agree though,,,
Read the link,,,look at the statements,,,
This turd and his GF are full of BS...IMHO...
OK, riddle me this Batman...
What are a couple of kids doing driving around in Daddy’s Denali at 2:30pm on a school day up to???
I am not defending Ms. Randall in this as they all have not gotten their day in court...I would suggest we give them that till the jury decides the case...
Most people I know would just let the unfriendly driving between both of them go...
And since I recall that when I was 17, there was no way I was going to go off on an adult in this manner, no matter what, or whom I was with a the time...
I believe this kid is indicative of the declining attitude and respect children should be expressing when engaged by an adult...
You can call someone all the names in the world...Once you assault that person in response to this alleged name calling, all bets are off, and the law gets to step in and take care of the problem...
Go ahead and dissagree, I’m sure you’ll still have the idea that ALL elected officials are still scum-bags...Some of whom I would agree with you, but not all are...Regardless of party affiliation, which is no matter in this particular case...
Bell,
I really hope Quannel X decides to stay in his little gated community (sarc) over there in Rodeo Palms on 288 for this one...
You are very very wrong. Your statement shows nothing but your frustration and dissappointment.
She is a human being and a citizen. She deserves the same benefit of the law as this young man or you.
Even the boy’s girlfriend acknowldges that he hit here while she was walking away.
He is so wrong...Not a Pro...politician this tiny 5 98 lb. 40 something woman is a hardware store owner who got tired of the corruption by unscrupulous builders who allegedly were hooked up with the former Mayor. Toni ran for the office for her first time to run for anything to clean up City Hall. Everyone loves Toni! More here...You have not heard her side yet.
“You can call someone all the names in the world...Once you assault that person in response to this alleged name calling, all bets are off, and the law gets to step in and take care of the problem...”
No you can’t. Assault and battery actually has two components; Assault is the calling of names and battery is the physical portion. Re-read the article and mentally switch the sexes and the races. Makes a difference, doesn’t it?
Growing up in the fifties and sixties, hitting a girl was not cool. But in those days women also didn’t expect to be on the baseball or football team, nor would they serve in combat in the service.
This kind of confrontation wouldn’t have happened back then. Nobody SHOULD hit another person. In 63 years, I’ve never had to resort to that. But then, I also don’t get in other people’s faces.
The kids today grow up in a totally different environment. Equal is equal. She gets no positive points for being a woman, and he gets no negative ones for being black. IMHO, she’s just as much at fault in this as he is.
As my late mom used to say, it “takes two tango”. From the article, she deliberately provoked him.
Sounds like the woman attempted to detain him.
That can get you punched.
You have no idea if anything in this report is true fair or balanced! Toni was in the ER and not available for comment. One side got to tell their story!
I am holding off until I hear the rest of the story. I know Toni and her Deputy Sheriff husband. These are really good people who contribute much to the communities of Kemah, and League City, TX.
