Futuremark Corp. reports, "We like measuring and comparing things, so our Peacekeeper service is designed to measure a browsers JavaScript performance. This is important because many modern dynamic websites make extensive use of JavaScript to provide navigation, forms and other features. Changing browsers to one with a high Peacekeeper score could make these sites faster and more responsive."
Which is the fastest browser?
"The tables and charts on these pages are compiled from thousands of Peacekeeper results from users all around the world," Futuremark Corp. reports. "The figures are updated as new results come in. The table below shows how the five major browsers score in Peacekeeper. For each browser we show you the results from the current release and the latest beta build. Most people will be better off using the stable release but there are always people, like us, who have to have the latest of everything."

Internet Explorer... dead last.
If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
I won’t use a browser that has no ad-blocking.
Does Safari 4 for Windows do ad-blocking? Does it do it well?
OK.....everybody pony up ten bucks and lets’ get this FReepathon over....
Thanks.
IE is very slow these days. I am about to give up on it. Maybe Safari’s the answer.

It presents some sites with HUGE variations in type size and formatting. Way too many bugs...even with the new patch...unless it is NOT an MS generated page, fuhgeddaboudit...
Mac Daily News did not do the testing... that was done by an OS agnostic site, Futuremark, where you can test your browsers. It's a PC site.
That really doesn’t answer either of my questions.
In any case, IE is painfully slow, especially 7.
Sorry, Petronski, I don't know. Ads don't bother me. I know there are several Ad-blocking plug-ins for the OS X version of Safari but I haven't bothered with them.
SafariBlock does just fine

I think Futuremark is probably a geeky site... attracting people who eschew Internet Explorer in favor of Firefox, ergo the relative popularity chart showing Firefox at the top.
None of the major browsers have ad-blocking out of the box. All of them have addons. And yes, there are free add-ons for Safari that do quite well, as well as a css-blocker that many people seem to like.
I have a Mac at home and think Safari is as good as my old love, Netscape, that I used at work on my PC until Microsoft bought it and killed it. I have developed a sincere and abiding dislike of IE. It is a miserable experience compared to Safari and Netscape.
That's a Mac only plug-in, unfortunately for Petronski's desires.
Hmmm...
Back to the drawing board
I’m using Safari right now. It’s absolutely fantastic.
and....verson 8....erased the printers on my wife’s new Vista 32bit machine and continued to generate spooler errors preventing printer installation until I restored it to the version 7 state. Post hic, ergo propter hoc..... Back to the drawing board, MS!!!
