There are some really annoying liberal trolls on Free Republic who have survived for months and years without being banned. Why is Free Republic allowing them to stay? We have enough liberalism and left wing lunacy on 90% of the media and we do not need this crap on this forum.
It is not difficult to spot these trolls. A quick review of their posting history will prove without any shadow of doubt that they are liberal trolls. Some of them try to mask it but they cannot fool the vast majority of us.
There are plenty of left wing forums which will welcome them that if they are not already registered and active members there.
It is time to get rid of them.
Hit the abuse bottom on them and hit it often.

Well there is a reason I did not quite do that. In a tiny community in Scotland, they distill a whisky. It is called Glenmorangie. Now a certain President let it slip that it was one of his preferences. In Canada the price went up from 48 dollars for a 26 ounce bottle (with handsome carry case)- to 64 dollars. I therefore had to sparingly imbibe.
I might add the new first lady can look attractive and has every financial support. I still like Chelsea. Oh and who to blame for the increase in the price of the Morangie whisky?

Okay. So you want Free Republic to be an on line conservative war room where tacticians plan strategy and field generals organize the troops. The only problem I see with this is 95% of the Freepers. Just how far are you suggesting expanding the definition of a troll? Do you ban everyone on the American Idol threads? The Official Friday Silliness Threads? Anyone who posts caption-this-picture threads? You could weed out 75% of the posts on this thread as being completely irrelevant. Of course, that also weeds out 75% of the posters.
There are several mechanisms used on the religious forum for threads to limit interference. The religionmoderator page has definitions of different thread types they use to weed out the shenanigans. I'm sure the same thing could be applied to Activism so that only the hard core battle ready need apply. But you will also limit your pool of recruits somewhat.
I think there are plenty of opportunities here for organization and planning. But I don't see how banning people and weeding out the "lazy, apathetic or liberal posters" is going to turn Free Republic into a lean, mean conservative fighting machine.
I have no idea what the ownership of Free Republic plans for the future of the site, nor will I try to project my thoughts on them or dazzle them with my vision of how they should do their jobs. I enjoy the product as it is, even with it's faults.
As for war, this war has raged in several incarnations since the Federalists and Anti-Federalists were writing letters to the editor. Some people are always in war mode. Some never will be. Feel free to draw your sword, raise your flag and charge the hill. If you are a good enough leader with a good enough plan people will follow you.

I agree that there is a contingent of DU'ers that infiltrate this website, particularly before elections to try to talk up wedge issues and spread disinformation.
I have always assumed that Jim let them stay so that the two sides could debate "mano a mano". Unfortunately you can't debate with libs because conservatives believe in facts and liberals believe in making up facts.

I agree that the true disruptors should go. People who are here to waste our time are worthless.
What I would hate to see happen though is an abuse button war. Many people here have certain issues that they care about the most. Mine are abortion, government discrimination, gun rights, and free speech. I’m hardcore in these areas. For example, I don’t like abortion exceptions for rape, support a race-blind Constitution, believe that the 2A should be treated like the first, etc. If I were to hit abuse on every poster that didn’t agree with me 100% on these issues, I would be reporting people all day and night. If I wanted a copy of myself, I’d just look in the mirror.
The worst bunch in my book are those that profess to be Conservative then start up with the pro union/protectionist tripe and claim that if you buy anything not American Made you are a commie lover.
Their solution to the problem is just a little bit more government control so they can get their pretty pony from Obama.
