I read the local movie guy’s review this morning—he gave it high marks because it stands on its own as a great sci-fi movie aside from the Star Trek franchise. I’m looking forward to it.

The original Star Trek was about as close as one could come in the 60’s to an “intellectual” show.Nobody on the Enterprise was inclined to “kick a$$”....particularly not Sulu.Couldn't be bothered seeing this film...I just bought Season 1 of the original TV series on blu-ray and am thrilled.*Nobody* can play Spock,Kirk,Uhura,Checkov,Bones and Scotty other than the originals any more than John Travolta can play Atticus Finch.

Just came back from the movie. If anything can resurrect this franchise, this movie can. It was FUN. Carl Urban is PERFECT as McCoy. The rest of the cast is very well done, and there is a lot of humor.
I hated the last few ST movies, but this one I like and I would not mind at all to see another sequel.

Too much "Cloverfield." Not enough "Lost."
A constantly moving jittery camera does not help either the acting or the plot. Just hold the stupid thing still, so we can see what's going on!
