Is Kirk going to be a real man like he was in the original series?

I hope so.

Couldn’t stand to see anything less than that.

Would break my heart.

They have the original captain Chris Pike and Kirk takes over from him, looks pretty good.

Well, this new guy will never replace Bill Shatner, but he has plenty of testosterone. The guy who really stole some scenes was the fellow playing Leonard McCoy. He was a riot.

I went last night with a bunch of teenagers and a set of partens from my church. The kids loved it. So did I.

Oh, yea. It was fantastic. The character developments were stop on. From the opening till the close - great.

I saw the movie at an advanced screening Thursday night. Kirk is a real man in this movie and kicks @$$. All the men in this movie are real men. Even Captain Robac and Kirk's father George Kirk in the opening scene on the U.S.S. Kelvin is one of the best action sequences I've seen in an opening movie, period. (not gonna spoil it but George Kirk sacrifices his life so his wife and unborn child, the future Captain Kirk, will survive) The touchy-feely, political correctness that dominated Star Trek from 1990-2007 is over. Long live TOS!

I was just concerned that the crew seemed to be a bunch of kids (20-30) to attract a young audience. TOS Kirk was 34 and the others were older. What about this movie's cast?

Saw it friday, and it looks to me like that's what they're going for. There was a great deal of subtle symbolism if you watched for it, and some of the things I picked up on were to the effect of 'no more wimpy captains'.
