I am curious if any freepers are doing the P90X fitness program....i have to say that it is an excellent system...chime in if you like....would be interested in your experience or maybe questions.
Don’t you feel a lot better? I certainly do.
Got into P90X, after being a runner for 10 years. This program fit me like a glove, it has added strength, endurance, flexibilty and energy to everything I do. It is well designed and balanced. Most importantly, it conditions me to prevent injury, and being 45 this is the critical thing. It has far surpassed my expectations. It is not easy by any means, and takes discipline and some sacrifice, but the benefits far outweigh these. It should be said that one should not do this program, unless their doctor approves it, as it is somewhat advanced.
Sorry, I thought that that was some kind of Ruger...

Yes...i would agree with that....i lifted wieghts for many years but i was never fully fit...just bulky...i will also add that it has helped me with bouts of depression...being fit generally does...thanks for adding to this thread...good post.
Going on a hike in the mountains next week...can’t wait to see how i do with my cardio on the uphills...it certainly will make it more enjoyable not gassing out near the top.
Thanks for posting this.
I had never heard of it before now, but it looks like it might be something I would like to check out next winter.
I need something to stay in shape during the cold months here in Colorado Springs and this looks like it might be the ticket.
This winter I did weights and stationary bike in a sort of modified “Body for Life” approach but this looks like it might be better. From the reviews on Amazon it looks like everyone LOVES IT...
Thanks again!
It’s a great program, imo....you only need hand wieghts or resistance bands and a pull up bar...i’m firmly convinced you can get in awesome shape at home...tuff work outs for sure....who needs a gym? I don’t have time to go to a gym.
Yep. Just started. So far, it’s a great workout.
Cheers!
OK - This sounds good. Thanks!
You are welcome.
It is without a doubt the BEST exercise program I have ever participated in.
But don't sign up for the online help -- they'll bill you for it ad infinitum; and IIRC, they tried to double-bill us for some of the equipment.
One other point -- you can get away with fewer calories than they recommend: by my body weight I was slated for around 3000 calories a day -- I would have been better with 2600 or so.
Cheers!
I peruse the forums at beach body to keep me motivated...some good stories on there and a wealth of info...never signed up or anything...thanks for the warning....i really wish i had a complete program like this 20 years ago...this is one program that i have not had trouble sticking to...i feel guilty as all get-out if i miss a workout.....hope others on FR respond...this could be the database for conservative X’ers ;)
I don’t do the Kenpo...i just do cardio x on those days...should i really do kenpo?
duh KeMpo!
Full Disclosure: I know a 5th degree black belt in American Kenpo, who got his black belt directly from Ed Parker.
Cheers!
It is KeNpo!....nevermind! ;) shows how much i know :(
BUMP
Are your friends making good progress?
So far, yes. They are both about a week in. One has already lost most of the weight before starting the program and is doing it to get toned. The other is is trying to get back in shape and lose weight. Both have said good things about the program.
