FreeRepublic has for years given all Freepers
a place to become informed about current events
and to discuss issues from the perspective of conservative principles,
but also, for us dog owners, it has been a place to share our love and knowledge of dogs with each other.

I know times are tough for some and if you can't afford to donate there is no shame.
For those if us that can afford a few dollars the Freepathon is an excellent opportunity
to say thanks to all the folks behind the scenes, from JR, Amy and John to the dedicate mods
tasked to tirelessly herd us cats and keep some semblance of order.

these threads might have a little more weight if he could post all stories of all dogs biting people then see if there is a disproportional number of one type of breed more than others, but it seems dog bites man stories never get published anymore unless it's a Pit or a Rottie or a Dobie and such.

and there are millions and millions more mutts out there biting millions more people than anything else...

never owned a Pit but got a Rottie pup when the kids were small and they grew up together and they had a good level of protection whenever we were away from the house or inside.

that dog would never, ever, let neither man nor beast get anywhere near those kids without he gave his life first.

My experience is the media calls many different breeds of dogs "pit bulls".

Please include me with BagCamAddict I’m in for $5 a week and all anti Pit posters. I’m a dog groomer and I have witnessed Pit attacks. I’ve also been bit in the face by a Rottie. Some of the worst bites I’ve experienced were from Cocker Spaniels. The all time most debilitating bite I had was a Husky. It IS all about the owner.

I narrowed it to 2, and was right... but it was the second one I clicked on.

My own breed is on that page, and I’ve had people ask me if my breed is “part Pit” — my breed is a HOUND and is nowhere near a TERRIER, which is what Pit Bull TERRIERS are. But people, even DOG PEOPLE like myself, and even Animal Control Officers and Animal Shelter staff, are not good with breed identification. So the “Pit Bull” gets blamed for many things they are not responsible for.

I just find it amusing that Free Republic seeks to benefit as they raise monies for the FReepathon based on character assassinations of other FReepers.

Whatever brings in the money, I guess, is OK.

This is so DUish. For you to single Chet out like this is BS. He has every right to post his articles even if I don’t agree with condemning the entire breed. And I have told you so in your private mails to me regarding his opinion and those who want to be offended by his opposition to pit bulls.

No one is forcing anyone to read any of Chet’s threads. If someone doesn’t like the topic, they don’t have to read them.

Last I heard, it’s a free country and as long as he’s not posting anything that’s violating the posting guidelines, I don’t see what the issue is over the topics he posts.

Anyone who is so put out by his threads needs to get over it and get a life. Posting a vanity like this is no way for adults to act.
