John Dean, a President Nixon staffer as Watergate was about to unfold, told his boss, "There is a cancer on your presidency."
Would any member of President Obama's staff dare tell him any such thing today?
Watergate was Nixon's 800-pound gorilla everybody talked about, who sat there until he broke the sofa. The location of Obama's birth is an 800-pound gorilla that gets fatter every day and nobody at least nobody in major media likes to admit its existence. There's never been a coming-together of factors resembling this one in America's entire political history.
At no point until now has the birthplace of a president been anything more than a local chamber-of-commerce item of pride (where I come, from they're still arguing whether President James Polk was born in Tennessee or North Carolina!). All of a sudden the question of President Obama's birth place threatens to undermine his very eligibility to serve, and to toss America into a constitutional crisis of unfathomable proportions.
In-depth journalism here would instinctively immerse itself in the growing blizzard of lawsuits launched by activists seeking "standing" (Do you have the right to question the president's eligibility to serve?) and writs of certiorari (Hey, Court! Will you please hear this case?). In-depth journalism would detail how many and who in which states are making the pile of challenges zoom.
In-depth journalism would distinguish between the challenges to President Obama's legitimacy on grounds of his alleged birth in Kenya versus his alleged status as a British subject by virtue of his father's citizenship. That's what in-depth journalism would do.

They did discuss it. They found the birther arguments to be complete nonsense, so they don't see a need to discuss it further. It's really not that complicated.
Incomprehensible that not even ONE OF THEM HAS TOUCHED THIS TOPIC
Malkin has, so has Fox, and they dismissed it because it is tinfoil hat nonsense.
The guy is a muslim, kenyan born, illegal alien, doesnt even have a Selective Service Number,
Look, I'm also pretty unhappy Obama is our president because of the extreme left-wing policies he promotes. However, none of what you wrote happens to be true. Don't believe everything you read on suspect webpages like Newsmax that make a habit of printing falsehoods.
The Emperor may have no birth certificate but the President has a state of Hawaii issued Certification of Live Birth which states that he was born in the City of Honolulu, in the County of Honolulu, on the Island of Oahu, in the state of Hawaii on Friday, August 4, 1961 at 7:24 p.m. and that his birth was registered with the state on Tuesday, August 8, 1961. Two announcements of his birth appeared in the local Honolulu Sunday newspapers on August 13, 1961.
Until legal authorities or investigative journalists disprove the information on that Certification of Live Birth, it stands as proof of Natural Born Citizen status and eligibility to be President of the United States.
Hawaii Revised Statutes 338-18 (b) point 9 allow a confidential vital record such as Obama’s original birth certificate to be released under court order. Thus far, no court has issued such an order.
The Attorney General of the state of Hawaii who could seek a subpoena for Obama’s original birth certificate is a Republican.
Great animation, potlatch!
Thanks, BIGLOOK. I remember that you said the same in an earlier message to me. I will understand if you cannot get it.
“And NOT ONE WORD FROM ANYONE THAT WEVE BEEN RELYING ON ALL THESE YEARS . . . ONLY FREEREPUBLIC.
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON????????”
Perhaps they ran out of tinfoil.
Someone is going to a fair amount of trouble and expense to NOT disclose a document which could be released for under $20
That speaks volumes. If he is Constitutionally qualified, why not just release the documents like McCain did?
No amount of calling people names nor pooh-poohing by the MSM (which should be calling for the issue to be cleared up instead of attacking those who question BO's eligibility) will change the fact that he has not shown he is a Natural Born Citizen.
Classic liberal claptrap is to attack the messenger rather than address the issue.
Where is this certification of birth?
Muslim: Unproven. If he is, he's an undercover Muslim. It is inherently impossible to prove what religion a person "really" believes in.
Kenyan born. Unlikely. Transcontinental travel in the early 60s was a great deal more costly and difficult than today. Not too many pregnant woman would do so.
Illegal alien. Not likely. It is assumed his mom is an American citizen, so he is too, even if born elsewhere. Might not qualify to be president, but he's no illegal alien.
I am not aware of the current location of the original, but here’s where a copy of it was (from last June).
Dr. Chiyome Fukino, Director of the State of Hawaii Health Department and Dr. Alvin T. Onaka, State of Hawaii Registrar have both said that the original Certificate of Birth is on file at the offices of the state Health Department.

A successful legal challenge to Obama’s natural born citizen status is going to have to counter the above by convincing a judge/justices or a Grand Jury that these are fraudulent or forged.
There is an image of a document called a "Certification of Live Birth" on the website. But if it ever was valid it is invalidated by the alteration to the Certificate Number. The document says "Any Alterations Invalidate This Certificate". So this electronic image isn't a valid Certification of Live Birth.
Also some guy on the website says that someone told him that it was a valid certification. But how does that make it valid?? Why does this guys opinion matter?
Just because some info was blanked before it was reproduced on the internet doesn’t mean that the certificate itself becomes invalid. I’ve seen some weak Birther arguments around here, but that one takes the blue ribbon.
Since this electronic version is the only certificate offered as "proof" then it's no proof at all since the document clearly says "Any Alterations Invalidate This Certificate".
It's an invalid certificate because there's an alteration made to it. Sorry.
Wrong. For about the 756th time:
Photos of the certification, on which the Birth Certificate number was clearly visible, were posted at FactCheck.org on August 21, 2008:
Recently FactCheck representatives got a chance to spend some time with the birth certificate, and we can attest to the fact that it is real and three-dimensional and resides at the Obama headquarters in Chicago. Link
Philip Berg filed his now-famous first lawsuit in the PA Supreme Court on or about the same day. One of his main assertions was that the "electronic version" of the COLB was a forgery. And yet, not he, nor anyone else who filed similar lawsuits and/or made similar allegations about the scanned COLB image ever publicly challenged the authenticity of the document in the possession of the Obama headquarters in Chicago. Not one asked the Obama campaign if they could send a credentialled document expert to examine the physical copy of the COLB. Certainly, if Obama's staff had refused, that would have forced the MSM to sit up and take notice; or failing that, it would have caused a sensation on the internet, which would eventually have spread to the public at large.
But no one did that, and as a result, we still have the same tired arguments about the "electronic version." Why?
Whenever this subject is discussed, someone invariably posts that FactCheck is a subsidiary of the Annenberg Foundation, which is leftist, so therefore not to be believed. But that has no bearing on the question of why none of the people filing lawsuits asked to examine the physical document photographed by FactCheck. If that could be proved to be a forgery, the issue would have escalated, perhaps forcing Obama to supply the original Birth Certificate before the election.
Why didn't they ask to examine it?

Where have you been? What kind of Kool-Aid you been drinking? Are you a seminar lurker?
Well, I’ve got a few thousand posts up if you want to research me. If I’m a serial lurker I must be very dedicated to maintaining my cover, don’t you think.
Instead of trying to attack me personally, why don’t you respond to my comments? Show me where I’m wrong.
Show me his Certificate of Live Birth, Pal. You can’t. I don’t want to see a Certificate OF A Certificate of Live Birth. What they’re hiding in Hawaii is incriminating and both you and he know that. If he shows us his real birth certificate, he’s admitting fraud. Show me. I’m waiting . . . . . . . . . .
The Obama campaign offered as "proof" the electronic version posted on fightthesmears.com. The proof was invalid by the criteria on the certificate itself. At some point they did invite "factcheck" (yes, a leftist website) to examine the Certification of Live Birth (NOT the birth certificate as Factcheck misrepresents). For a good rundown of the problems with Factchecks "verification" process click here What's really disturbing to me is that the ONLY verification done was done by a leftist website known to have associations with Obama.
I don't know that nobody hasn't asked. And you have more faith in the leftist media than I do. But EVEN if the Certification is real, then my understanding is that Obama STILL could have been born somewhere else.
Now as has been stated numerous times all the speculation could be stopped by merely releasing his original birth certificate.
I can show my certificate in a matter of minutes, I don’t see why Obama can’t do the same, if nothing else but to disprove us.
I can’t, as you well know. Obviously the guy is hiding something.
You seem to assume that I am defending Obama as being constitutionally qualified. I’m not. I merely responded to your statements, in particular the one that he IS a Muslim.
There is little credible evidence out there that this is a fact. It may be a reasonable suspicion, but a suspicion, even when reasonably justified, is not a fact.
For instance, the presently available “evidence” that Obama is Muslim would never reach the “beyond reasonable doubt” level required for a criminal trial, or even the “preponderance of evidence” for a civil trial. Just isn’t there at the moment. This doesn’t mean he isn’t a Muslim, just that no one can prove it at this point.
