I just put my cat down

She was very sick. I don't know if I did the right thing.

I'm pro-life, but I feel like such a hypocrite.

If you mean open to jerks like you then I guess it is. Try to get off of your ignorant horse and go along with a little compassion for someone who has just experienced a very painful thing - And who definitely does not need a sermon from the likes of a loser and ideologue like you obviously are. I am sickened!!!

I’m so sorry for your loss. I put down two of my dogs in two years. I was heartbroken. However, this January we made a new edition to the family. There are time I call our new dog - his name is Eddie - our deceased dog’s name. You did the right thing. We don’t want our animals to suffer.

I know how difficult it is to do but it is the kindest thing you can do for a suffering pet. Don’t let the pain you feel, stop you from getting another pet to love.

I understand your pain. But, you cannot equate putting a pet down to doing the same with a human being. Humans are provided the best that modern science and medical care can provide at the time of death. This comes in the form of their private medical insurance, Medicare for the indigent, or the free services of a Hospice provider. The technology and resources exist for people, but there is no parallel for animals (unless they are high profile race-track horses).

You totally did the right and humane thing. I urge you to lay whatever doubts and pain that remain at the feet of God in prayer.

God bless you. Please take care and be at peace.

...forever in my heart, Fat Eddie, Big Sammy and Lucy Goosey. God I miss them and thankful that God gave us the simple joy of pets....

Keep momentos close by to remind you of the simple joy your pet brought to you...

I wanted to throw away the food dish, the water dish and the litterbox.

I almost donated the kitty carrier to the vet’s office.

I don’t want to see another pet die.

By the way, you may be interested in the book “Heaven” and how the author talks about our pets in Heaven...

It’s supposed to be a pretty “solid” book, Biblically speaking.

Heaven, by Randy Alcorn

Also, if you want to hear the author interviewed on his book, go to the radio program “Olive Tree Ministries”, with Jan Markell as the host.

In the archives, she has a couple of interviews with Randy Alcorn

March 22, 2008 - Hour 2

Dr. Randy Alcorn has written several books on Heaven. His latest is just titled “Heaven” and he answers some of the basic questions known from the Bible about Eternity. He explains the “New Heavens and New Earth”. A fascinating and uplifting hour. http://www.epm.org/

June 30, 2007 - Hour 2
Repeat from February 17, 2007.

I wasn’t there for the little guy when he took his last breath. Oh, I hope he forgives me for that.

I'm sure he already has.

I’ve put down a few beloved pets who were in pain. It’s not easy, but you did the right thing. It’s worse to leave the animal in suffering.

It’s compassion to realize that there is nothing related (with pets) to the “pro-life” movement.

If you don’t see that, then you don’t understand what is going on...

As for the pro-life thing... well, humans are different. I’d kill and eat a steer, but not a man.

We are not animals.

My sister felt that way after putting down her Beagle, Tobie.

Give yourself time.

You will know if and when you are ready for another furry friend.

Cat's are not humans. We owe them the best life they can have as our pets(ditto dogs and any other pets), it tears our hearts to see them infirm and suffering. If your cat was in pain or simply couldn't do what cats love to do then you did the right thing. My kitty, and that is her name, kitty, came to me out of the blue one day, I saw her crossing my yard and I lived in the middle of nowhere at that time. I called her, she came running, I fed her and that was that.

I have had many cats in my long life but kitty is absolutely the best,I will miss her when she is gone and I suffer because I know she must be at least 10 years old(but don't know for sure), she isn't as active as she once was but she is in no pain and obviously not suffering. I dread the day when I have to make the decision. If you ever get a chance read Rudyard Kipling's poem about letting a dog into your heart. It will work the same for a cat lover and leave you in tears because his real aim was to let you know how much he loved dogs.

RIP for you cat, she/he is chasing other cats in cat heaven right now and waiting for you to show up.

See my post 67 , read it, understand it and then get lost. I have no further interest in anything you have to say.

I understand what you are feeling, but think about all the joy your cat brought to you. There is another kitty out there who needs your loving care and devotion.

I'm sorry you lost your cat. You have our heartfelt sympathies. We have two...a 17 year old and a 5 year old. The eldest is threatening to become a piano player in her 2nd of nine lives ... which is encouraging.

Eventually, we have to give them back to Him who gave them to us.
