Instant Internet communication and an explosion in political commentary are magnifying President Obama's gaffes and administration missteps, and could erode his popularity faster than that of other presidents, say experts from both left and right.
Intense scrutiny and rookie mistakes by an understaffed administration combine to draw attention faster to Obama's stumbles.
Last week was notable for budget battles and a new Afghanistan strategy, rather than for headline-hogging gaffes, although the president didn't escape a few media jeers for his reliance on a giant TV screen in place of his trademark teleprompter to feed him his lines at Tuesday's primetime press conference.

What an idiot....a TELEPROMPTER President. I think that nickname is sticking....
BULLSTALIN. Bush was assaulted by the Left and presstitutes before he even took office. BOTH elections he won. BOTH times he was denied an election night victory speech.
They posted thousands of pictures of him as Chimpy McBushitler.
Magazine covers portrayed him as Alfred E. Neuman.
News websites had files names of "a$$hole" and "brainwashed child" on images of Bush and his fans (rolling over the pictures would reveal the insulting filenames on "unbiased" news sites).
Obama doesn't have it HARDER than other presidents, he's been protected from the trial by fire that all president face.
Regardless of instant communications, nothing will stick without the late night comics vilifying him as they did (and still do) W Bush. In fact, Leno still belittles Bush while giving Zero a pass on his reliance on the TelePrompTer for his gift of gab.
Gosh, that never happened with Bush...
It appears to be slowly dawning on the communtariat that the weapons they used against Bush can be turned on themselves.
What u say?
AMEN, afip. They attacked him unmercifully from day one and they haven’t quit.
No words
This looks like a thread where someone ought post a picture of Captain Obvious.
Ok here’s where Leno DID get Obama to his face on the AIG bonuses....now this was a good one!

They aren’t gaffes. They are eyes into the soul, or lack thereof, of Barack Obama.
He’s simply stating what he believes to be true.
Only his lemmings would chalk it up as something as meaningless as a gaffe.
They attacked him before Day One. A sci-fi biographer (who later committed suicide) wrote a smear of George W. Bush that advanced the allegation that Bush was a cokehead. No witnesses to back it up on record (unlike Bill Clinton’s brother or Barack Obama’s own autobiography).
Yet throughout his terms he was ridiculed as a cokie and drunkard.
Obama lies about giving up smoking and the public is “shocked” (that the story still got out that he continues to smoke).
What other vices does he still slip into?
*MEGA PING*
...Not only for that last paragraph, but for everything you stated in your post. And I'll tell you something else: Many of my fellow Black Americans who foolishly voted for 0 are very touchy about the subject, acting as though he's one of the family members being insulted. They, as well as he need to get over themselves rather quickly. Criticism of Presidents is nothing new, and I can already see the major difference in a man who withstood it well and a guy who hasn't the guts to take it.
What “understaffed administration?” 500 members of it are going to England with al’0bama together with their staff members.
“What understaffed administration? 500 members of it are going to England with al0bama together with their staff members.”
True....that’s the media spin....blame Obamas gaffe on his understaffed administration! Amazing....
What would we do without experts?
Experts mind you, EXPERTS have said this. Therfore I will would listen.
They used to rail against Bush BEFORE he even gave a speech. I remember Pelosi giving what they called "prebuttals", a rebuttal to what the President was going to say. It was sickening.
The press detail assigned to his 2000 campaign was bored hearing him deliver the same speech 4 times in a day. They admitted that they took delight in finding the one passage where he’d slip up one time that day and exploit it as evidence that Bush was “dumb”.
Purely partisan propaganda. Obama flubs and we are supposed to overlook it, read the transcripts which omitted the ums uhs and misstatements.
The personal attacks on President Bush began while he was still governor campaigning. And those Democrats who claimed to have supported McCain in 2000 revealed their true colors in 2008 when they voted against him in the general campaign saying “this is not the McCain of 2000 we liked”.
