Hi all. Home now, but too overtired to nap. *\:-(
Today will have been a very long day. I got up with the sun t 6:30 PM Saturday (Seattle time, in Finland it was 4:30 AM), it will still be light until about 8:30 PM (Seattle time), making today's daylight, sunrise to sunset, about 26 hours.

Ohno!
Is traveling West better than traveling East for jet-lag?
Have some hot cocoa with cinnamon and prop your feet up. You’ll soon be sleepy!!
Welcome home!

Thats confusing! I hope you can fall asleep eventually. Eventually I will. I was hoping for a couple of hours to help get back on schedule faster but... oh well.

Is traveling West better than traveling East for jet-lag? Some people report direction as a factor. My experience is that jet-lag is worse coming home than going out.

I find that taking a bath helps. Or putting on a tape of Father Hardon, lecturing slowly, comma, slowly, and with distinctly, emphatic, emphasis ... zzzzzzzzz ....
I’ll have to take a set to the hospital when I have the baby.

Hm. When I went to Pak, I didn’t seem to have much in the way of jet-lag in either direction.
Although when I went to Germany, years ago, my son and I were both sick for three days.
*shrugs* Different strokes, I guess!

Maybe I should tape one of my phone calls with one of my brothers. He can put anyone to sleep, just while you wait for him to get from, “Well,” to “hello.” This would be a LONG conversation, with just those two words.

I find that taking a bath helps. I hadn't tried that, though one of the first things on my agenda after a long trip (12+ hours in transit) is a shower. I always feel better after that. Don't have any Father Hardon tapes though... *\;-)

Father Hardon was an old Jesuit (he’s dead now), who wrote a number of books and also recorded lectures. He was sort of a “senior chaplain” for Catholic homeschoolers, before he passed away. Very interesting, but between his age and his style, he could be very snoozy.
I use his tapes to teach the kids to take notes, because he repeats and underlines, as well as speaking fairly slowly. Scott Hahn rushes along with digressions all over the landscape, much harder to keep up!

It sure is! This time, though, my innards never got fully back to normal before the return. I usually experience a day or two of intestinal discomfort after a trip of more than 4-6 hours duration.
Interesting to note unannounced airline policy changes too. NWA *never* used to issue upgrades on international flights, but today I was upgraded on the homeward leg, Amsterdam to Seattle. This time I know it wasn't an "oversold" situation in coach (as I was led to believe the last time this happened, outgoing leg) because my coach seat was empty. Kudos to NWA.

I’m just glad you got home safely!
As for me, I’m heading for the blanket show. I seem to be running a fever again.
