The rolls at the restaurant last could have been used for golf balls.

I’ve had those. Geese will eat them.

I’m OK. Intermittent health grumbles, sometimes I’m fine, fine, fine and sometimes I’m autoimmune all over. I’m going to go out into the HOT afternoon sunshine right now and turn over my compost pile! Whee!

You be cool.

Living mostly on the west coast CA and WA there are not many buildings over hundred years old.

But some newer houses can be interesting. This is a picture of a house I saw when I lived in Alameda. The 10' wide one on the left.

Well, at least they spelled Colorado right!

Would have been REALLY bad if they'd gotten that wrong.

Helsinki was very nice but it will never find favor with my committee. Not while beers cost 7 Euros...

I find the rest of the photos really quite interesting! Thanks!

I hoped you would! Vicarious travel doesn't quite hit the highs of being there, but it avoids *all* the lows.

Like getting back to the hotel to collect my luggage and the desk is swamped with TWO BUSLOADS of tourists checking in. (They don't have bellhops, the clerk opens the door to the luggage room with a remote.)

I edged my way in and get her to open the door while still processing all the checkins. I learned long ago to dislike hotels that take tour buses -- in our spring meeting hotel, if they don't watch the kids touring D.C., the breakfast room gets stripped like locusts came through. Then again, I don't really like "Hampton eggs."

Very interesting place! Did the sun-seekers have clothes on? When it got warm and sunny in Amsterdam in April, the locals started stripping! (Unfortunately ...)

Clothes on? Winter coats still! The highs were in the low 50s. It wasn't particularly briught out (the sun is still low and the light is a bit flat -- I had to boost the contrast to make the photos look right) but many were sporting sunglasses. I think if I'd just emerged from many months of really cold & dark I'd celebrate the sun's return too. Like eating ice cream cones outside when it's in the 40s (they don't melt as fast then).

LOL! They’ve been beat by a house in SF, 8’ I think, but it’s been a long time and I don’t really recall...

I can spend Euros in Vegas?

Can I spend Democrats too?

Good night all. It's quarter of 11 (PM) here, finally dark outside, and hopefully my morning alarms go off in 6 hours to start me on my journey homewards.

Tomorrow maybe.. depending upon how trashed I am

That sounds like a good idea, actually.

I can eat ice cream any time of year.
And I’m off to get parallel to the deck. Y’all have a good night!

I just noticed that "You be cool" can be construed two ways grammatically:

You (pronoun of address) be (imperative verb of being) cool (at a comfortably mild temperature)

~or~

You (Pronoun subject) be (used, incorrectly, as the 2nd person present indicative) cool (oh, with an admirable serene personal style.)

And it doesn't avoid the ambiguity to say, "You be chillin'."

You an' all your chillen...

I was drinking a tasty New Zealand white wine, but then I had to go to bed.

Today is Pat’s First Communion; I need to find him something to wear! He was poorly yesterday, but feels fine this morning. It’s hard to schedule things for such a frail kid.
