This is a program that sends monthly "care packages" to our soldiers in Forward Operating Bases (F.O.B.s) in Iraq and Afghanistan. They typically do not have local base exchanges or any other access to menial personal items (such as snacks, minimal hygiene items, personal health items).
We work directly with Platoon Leaders, Chaplains, Sergeants, and squad commanders to coordinate our efforts and provide the support to those who do not receive packages and mail from home. The average age of the soldiers we support is less than 22 years old.
Unclassified pictures have been sent to us and are attached below along with pictures of our supply room, our Directors packing a box and an amazing certificate of appreciation!
Here is what they need:
Pesonal Items: Baby wipes, wet wipes, foot powder, chapsticks, deodorant, deodorant bar soap, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, razors(disposable) suncreen, toothpaste, mouthwash.
Snack Food: beef jerky or slim jims, hard candy, trail mix, chips, tuna(in packs), instant coffee, cookies(please no chocolate- it melts) crackers(small bags), granola cereal bars, gum, nuts, sunflower seeds.
Comfort items: DVD's, Cd's, paperback books, cards, games.
Over the counter medicine: Advil, Tylenol, Antacids, cold and cough meds, eye drops(visine), nasal spray, ect...
If anyone knows how to post this into a Florida category, please let me know. It is not news and I did not want to post it as such. But since every little thing our guys get helps them out, I did want to let people know.
If you just want to drop off items. The SE Republican club meets at the Hollywood Beach Culture & Community Center 1301 So. Ocean Dr. Hollywood, FL 33019 at 7:00PM on 4/07/09.
Could the item listed as needed be mailed to the same address?
It is heart-breaking to think of those young guys not receiving anything from their loved ones at mail call. Guess I’ll make a trip to Target.
since early 2008 I have sent our troops in IRQ and AFG
well over one ton of donated gourmet coffee .
They love it !
Do you send the 1 or 3 pound cans? How do you package it for shipping?
Address or charity that will handle it and get it over there?
Baby wipes/wet wipesSite also states that a note and a prayer with each package.

Street address to send checks is:

Not the Hollywood address. That is a city building in which the Republican club has a room once a month. But if you email or call the addresses/numbers on the website, I am sure they can tell you where to send things. And thank you for your support.
I remember mail calls all too well and the all too often disappointment in not getting any letter and the extreme joy in receiving one..........
I did not serve so I cannot even imagine what it must feel like to walk away with nothing. Maybe you can help me out, I will be donating as much as I can afford to go in our collection box. What would the guys and gals most like to receive when they are so far away from home?
I will mail a check to help in their mailing and packing costs.
If I include a thank you note for a soldier, will that be sent along with one of the care packages?
Thanks for bringing this soldier support group to our attention.
5 - 1 lb foil bags per box . USPS flat rate
works great , all make it
Gathering of Eagles Hawaii chapter
I am not sure if your personal note will be included or not. Check the website for the phone numbers and email addresses and I am sure that you will get an answer if you contact the organizers. However a personal note and prayer is enclosed with each package for sure. Thanks for your help.
Just anything because the worst thing in the world is showing up for mail call and not having your name being called.........
My husband was in the war at it’s start, I know how important it is to send things to the troops as much as possible. After he was home, a friend of mine’s husband deployed to Iraq two times, for over a year at a time. I sent him packages too. Thanks for posting another way to help out. Operation Gratitude is another way to help. Before Christmas, they had a funding request to help get packages to the troops. It always feels good to help out America’s Finest and Bravest. God Bless them all.
I printed it out. The least we can do. I am haunted by the thought that there are boys over there with no one sending them care packages from home.
Headed into hot summertime in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Items that our troops also appreciate:
Body powder, foot powder, medicated creams, band aids, socks, and magazines.
Thanks for the info!
You wonder how this could happen, and I am sure some have no family living- but I know at least one soldier who was disowned by his entire liberal family when he enlisted. He deployed once already and said he didn’t get mail or packages. He will be deploying again soon, and now has a wife and has been adopted by us also so he will be getting mail this time around. It is unreal to me how some people are.
